A diverse region, you can be at the beach for a few days and then visit the Spice farms in the West or visit the various conservation areas both North and South of the island. Things to do in Zanzibar
Tours
Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park: Explore the nature reserve of the red colobus and Syke’s monkeys, small antelopes and geckos with a walk through the winding forests of Mahogany and Mangrove trees.
Mnaranai Conservation Aquarium: Interact with and fed sea turtles and various other species of turtles. Staff advise that the turtles they rescue are either injured or caught by fishing nets; the local fishermen bringing them to the premises for rehabilitation. Once a year, some turtles are released back into the sea.
Kuza caves: Explore the caves before going for a swim in the limestone cave pool of clear and fresh turquoise waters.
Sunset Dhow Cruise from Kendwa: End your day with the best sunset views on the island with a tour aboard the renowned dhow, a rigged sailboat particular to the Indian Ocean. Live music, drinks and dining options are available to choose from.
Mnemba Atoll Dolphin Tour and Snorkeling: As you head towards the island’s north-eastern crystal-clear waters, watch/swim with dolphins in their natural habitat. At Mnemba Island Reef, snorkel among the corals and waters abundant with angel fish, rays and other tropical species.
Spice Farm Tour: This cluster of islands is aptly nicknamed the Spice Islands. Run by local cooperatives and set within a tropical oasis, these tours are informative and enriching. Clients can enhance their experience with an add-on of food-tasting, lunch or a traditional cooking class. Locally produced perfumes, spices and other souvenirs on offer to purchase.
Places of interest
Stone Town Darajani Market: From fresh produce, seafood, spices to Zanzibari delicacies and clothing- you can find just about anything that you're looking for in this historic area of the city.
Freddie Mercury Museum: For music lovers and Queen fans alike, this museum honors the life of Freddie Mercury and his upbringing in Zanzibar.
Beaches
Kendwa Beach: Located on the Northwest coast of Zanzibar, this area offers some of the best sunsets, cafes/ restaurants and swimming on the island. Visitors to Kendwa Beach can participate in various activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving, sunset cruises and beach volleyball.
Paje Beach: One of the more relaxing beaches, Paje is located on the east side of the island. With a good breeze and a huge tidal range, it's a perfect spot for water sports such as jet skiing, wind surfing and kite surfing. At the lowest tide, you can visit the Mwani Seaweed farm and watch the ladies as they gather seaweed for cosmetic production.

Lukmaan Restaurant, Stone Town - Winner of the Zanzibar Tourism Awards, this restaurant is renowned for its excellent service, portions and reasonably priced local food. Fresh juices are also a favorite!
