Site Inspection for the JW Marriott Anaheim Resort
Curator’s statement

In April of 2023, I did a site inspection for the JW Marriott in Anaheim. This resort is categorized as an AAA Four Diamond luxury resort. I have stayed here several times in the past and enjoyed what the facility has to offer. The hotel is only a mile away from the Disneyland and Disney California Adventure (DCA) entrances. When I am not staying at the Disneyland Resort, this is my go to hotel when visiting the theme parks.

The JW Marriott, Anaheim is a luminous property located one hour away from the Los Angeles Airport (LAX). It is conveniently located near the Disneyland and DCA entrances which take about 15 to 20 minutes walking. You can also choose to take the Anaheim Regional Transportation (ART) bus to get to the parks. The pick up is right next door in front of the Cheesecake Factory. The bus begins its daily service 90-minutes prior to the opening of the parks and arrives every 25 minutes. The last bus is 30-minutes after closing of the park. See below for fares.

The first floor of the JW is composed of the main entrance, parking, and 17 event rooms. The resort has 43,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space. The Grand Ballroom measures at 13,440 square-feet and can accommodate up to 1,400 guests which makes it a great venue for weddings.

The second floor is host to their restaurant Tocco Ferro. This is an Italian chophouse and it has been awarded best new restaurant by World Culinary in 2022. During the day, the chophouse serves up a breakfast buffet and during lunch, the space is reserved for the chef pizza making experiences that guests can sign up for. On the other side of the restaurant, you will find the Citriculture bar that opens up directly to the pool area. You can order a drink and meal here, whether you want to sit at the bar, lounge or pool area. If you are looking for more of a grab and go snack, adjacent to the check in counter, you will find the JW market.

The rooftop is host to the Parkestry Bar & Lounge. There are two sections and both have stunning views of the city and theme parks. You can even host a private event on either side of the bar. They are open Tuesdays through Sundays and to the public. Guests have priority and reservations can be made through Open Table.

GARDEN:

The JW has four garden sections accessible through the second floor.

1. Butterfly Garden: This won the Anaheim Beautiful Award.

2. Floral Garden

3. Serenity Garden: This part of the garden has a virtual reality component in which you download an app after scanning their QR code. The Serenity Garden is a great outdoor space that can be utilized for events or banquets. Tables and seats can be arranged to your personal liking.

4. Edible Garden: Used in conjunction with the pizza making chef experience.

POOL:

The JW has one main pool that is heated year round. There are lounge chairs and rentable luxury cabanas and daybeds. There is no food service here but you can easily order your drinks and food at Citriculture since its accessible through the pool area.

SPA:

There is no spa on the premises but you can ask a concierge to schedule you a spa service at Tenaya Stone Spa located inside the Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa or at Burke Williams Spa in Anaheim which is a 10 minute drive away.

FAMILY EVENTS:

Kid activities are provided at the resort. However, there is no set schedule and activities change daily. Check their website for the activity schedule.

This image depicts a blue wall with white signage attached to it that reads "Parkestry Rooftop Bar".

ROOMS:

Deluxe Guest Rooms: All of the rooms are the same size at 390 square feet and 35 square meters. Roll away beds are not permitted but there is a trundle bed. All rooms have separate showers and tubs. Pricing varies depending on the view or concierge amenities.

Executive Suite: 755 square feet and 68 square meters with one king bed, one trundle bed and one sofa bed. It is a deluxe guest room that connects to the executive room. It is also very spacious and the bathroom is massive.

Hospitality Suite: 920 square feet and 83 square meters with one king bed, one trundle bed and one sofa bed. It is a deluxe guest room that connects to the hospitality room. It is very spacious with more than plenty of closet and bathroom space.

Griffin Suite: 1,554 square feet and 140 square meters. This is the only room on the second floor. It opens up directly to the pool. This is a great option for a girls or boys night out trip or wedding parties. It has one king bed and one sofa bed.

Presidential Suites: 1,723 square feet and 155 square meters. The resort has two presidential suites. One for ADA compliance and the other is a standard room. This room can hold a maximum of six guests comfortably. It has a full size fridge, king bed and a sofa bed. You can request for two rollaway beds for your guest(s).

THE EXECUTIVE & CONCIERGE LOUNGE:

Located on the 10th floor. Accessible to platinum, titanium and ambassador Bonvoy members. If you are not a member but would still like access, you can choose an Executive Lounge access room rate when making a room reservation. They offer an assortment of breakfast foods, appetizers and desserts for the afternoon or evening hours. I have seen the Disneyland fireworks from the balcony, you can walk outside the lounge and have unobstructed views of the show, although you won't hear the music.

DESTINATION FEE:

$30 per day but it includes a food and beverage credit, enhanced wifi (you need to ask for it), wine tasting for two people or a yoga class for two people.

PARKING: $65 per night. You are charged at midnight so if you decide to go to the parks, make sure to pick up your car before the clock strikes 12 to avoid an additional night of parking fees.
