St. Regis Bali: Where Luxury Meets the Ocean
Curator’s statement

Situated along Bali’s coastline, St. Regis Bali is a true sanctuary of elegance and tranquility. As one of the island’s most iconic resorts, it brings together stunning natural beauty, exceptional service and luxurious amenities. My recent stay here was one-of-a-kind. I especially enjoyed stand-up paddleboard yoga, the serene white sandy beach — a rare find in Bali — and the beautiful saltwater lagoon that winds through the property. The lush greenery surrounding the resort adds to its peaceful ambiance, creating a seamless blend of nature and luxury.

Location

St. Regis Bali is located in Nusa Dua, on the southeastern coast of Bali, an area known for its white sandy beaches. The resort is nestled within lush tropical gardens, offering a quiet escape just moments from the island’s vibrant attractions. What truly sets this location apart is its rare direct access to a stretch of white sand beach. This is a remarkable find in Bali, where many beaches are either rocky or feature black sand.

Vibe and crowd

The vibe at St. Regis Bali is one of refined luxury, yet it remains incredibly inviting. The resort draws a diverse mix of travelers, from families looking for a serene getaway to couples seeking a romantic retreat. The atmosphere is calm and laid-back. There is a strong emphasis on peace and privacy, balanced by a subtle buzz of excitement around the many activities and dining experiences. Lounging by the saltwater lagoon or enjoying a gourmet meal, guests are embraced by a feeling of abundance that feels effortlessly natural, never overwhelming.

Rooms

The accommodations at St. Regis Bali offer a perfect blend of Balinese tradition and contemporary luxury, designed with the signature style of renowned architect Bill Bensley. The resort features 81 suites in the main building and 43 villas, each thoughtfully crafted with open spaces, beautiful design and elegant finishes. Every suite and villa includes a private balcony or terrace overlooking lush gardens or the ocean. Attention to detail shines through in every corner, from the intricate woodwork to the plush furnishings that invite relaxation and comfort. Some villas even offer direct access to the resort’s saltwater lagoon. These features create a serene, unique experience that perfectly embodies the relaxing charm of the island.

Food

Dining at St. Regis Bali is a feast for the senses, with venues that range from refined elegance to relaxed beachfront charm. Breakfast was a highlight, with an extensive buffet served in a Boneka, which is also known among locals for its lavish Sunday brunch. For a memorable dinner, Kayuputi offers exquisite Pan-Asian cuisine with ocean views, while guests can enjoy cocktails at The St. Regis Bar with live jazz. Try traditional Balinese flavors at Dulang, grab gourmet treats at Gourmand Deli or sip cocktails at the beachside Vista Bar.

Amenities

St. Regis Bali offers a wide variety of amenities whether you come to relax, or are looking for something more active. One of my favorite features is the resort’s stunning saltwater lagoon. It winds through the property and provides the perfect setting for an early morning dip or late afternoon swim. Activities offered range from standup paddle yoga sessions to cultural experiences like Balinese cooking classes. For those seeking ultimate relaxation, the Iridium Spa offers a serene sanctuary. The space offers indulgent treatments inspired by Balinese traditions, designed to rejuvenate body and spirit. I always use the gym when traveling, and I am happy to report that the one at St Regis Bali has all the equipment. From cardio machines and fitness machines to free weights.

Sustainability

St. Regis Bali has also taken significant steps towards sustainability, focusing on environmental preservation without compromising luxury. The resort’s eco-friendly initiatives include energy-efficient practices, water conservation efforts and support for local communities through sustainable sourcing and cultural programs. These efforts reflect a commitment to preserving the island’s beauty and supporting its people, all while ensuring a responsible, yet luxurious experience for guests.

Need to know

What I loved about the hotel

What truly stood out during my stay at St. Regis Bali was the seamless blend of luxury, natural beauty and exceptional service. The saltwater lagoon was a personal highlight, offering a peaceful escape for relaxation and activity right on the property. I also very much enjoyed breakfast at Boneka. There are a wide variety of international and local dishes — like sushi, Southeast Asian specialties, and fresh juices — with both à la carte and buffet options. The thoughtful staff greeted me with a refreshing jamu and loloh every morning (something I mentioned I loved), adding a special touch. The resort’s rare direct access to a white sandy beach is another standout feature, something not commonly found in Bali. Above all, what made my experience unforgettable was the warmth and friendliness of the staff. From the moment I arrived, I felt truly welcomed, with every need met with care and a smile. St. Regis Bali isn’t just a luxury resort, it’s a place that makes you feel at home. It is surrounded by the island’s beauty and the best of Balinese hospitality.
