Vakkaru is a Fun-Packed & Relaxing Maldives Resort
Curator’s statement

The whole resort sparkled, especially at night. The room was exquisitely decorated and upscale with a B & O sound system, huge glass walls, everything programmed on an iPad including lights, curtains, TV and sound system.... it was easy to use.

This little gem sparkles, it’s just the right size!

We had the best overwater villa without pool Room 245. It was beyond fantastic! Very private, uninterrupted expansive views of the lagoon in every hue of blues and greens. It was the last villa at the end of the pier and it was worth every penny. We were celebrating our anniversary and we were welcomed with champagne and chocolates when we arrived in our room.

Our room boy was fabulous and he went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. He spent a long time preparing a rose petal bath, which we appreciated.

Our butler was a gal and she too was very professional and caring.

We snorkeled/swam around the island every day for exercise and enjoyed both blue holes for fish viewing. The "fish soup" kept us occupied for the many hours we spent in the water each day. There were quite a few large stingrays and every color, shape and size of tropical fish.

We kayaked, paddle-boarded around the island and played ping pong several times a day.

The gym is stretched out over the water by the spa area and is well laid out with cardio and weights. It has panoramic views.

We greatly enjoyed bike riding everywhere on the complimentary bikes it was especially magical in the evenings riding in a simple dress in the warm breeze through dimly lit sandy pathways through out the island it felt calming and brought us back to our youth!

Food was very good with plenty of restaurants to sample. We had half board. We especially liked the sushi bar out over the pier and vakku to eat at, although the buffet dinners on the beach were also amazing.

We were offered a complimentary spa treatment which we loved. Tables set up over glass panels over the water it was mesmerizing to lay there and watch the fish while getting a couples massage. The spa also has a wonderful area out back that you can enjoy before treatment with hot and cold pools and amazing views of the sunsets

The staff is trained well and we received 5-star service wherever we went

You can walk around the island in 15 minutes and there are wide swaths of powdery white sand

The pool is large and we swam laps in it... the area around it is very nice.

Need to know

I highly recommend Vakkaru for a Maldives vacation. Villa 245, along with our overwater villa at Anantara Kihavah, are two of the villas with the greatest "wow" factor so far of the 13 resorts we have visited. The lovely deck with a rain shower is completely covered from the sun and filled with lounge chairs, a table and chairs and a comfortable couch etc made us want to spend most of our time outside where friendly sharks, turtles, stingrays, dolphins and schools of fish swam by and the sunsets were exquisite!
