Curator’s statement
There’s something truly magical about stepping onto the Belmond Mount Nelson grounds. Tucked away in the heart of Cape Town, this iconic pink-hued hotel effortlessly blends old-world charm with modern luxury. I road-tripped through the Western Cape of South Africa with my husband and this gorgeous property was where we chose to kick off the trip of a lifetime!

The entrance to Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town is iconic, framed by a grand white gate with elegant columns and the hotel's name in classic script. Lush palm trees line the driveway, creating a stately and tropical welcome as you approach the historic pink building.

On arrival, we were greeted with a champagne toast and upgraded to one of their stunning one-bedroom corner suites, an experience that immediately elevated our stay. The suite was nothing short of perfection — spacious, serene and filled with light. The separate living area offered views of the lush, manicured gardens and the hotel’s historic grounds. Each of the 198 rooms are a perfect balance of timeless design and thoughtful comfort — featuring soft fabrics, elegant furnishings and Cape Town-inspired charm. It was easy to see why the Belmond Mount Nelson has earned its reputation as a top choice for those visiting the city.

Beyond the suites, the hotel’s grounds were a true oasis. The gardens, filled with the scent of blooming flowers, make the hustle of city life feel miles away. We immediately snagged a pair of sun-beds near the pool for an afternoon of leisure and, of course — sampling all of the cocktails on their menu.
Of course, no stay at Mount Nelson would be complete without indulging in its culinary offerings. Be sure to reserve a seat for their legendary afternoon tea served, which is served with tiers of pastries and finger sandwiches. Their beautiful striped, tented terrace is a lovely place to start the day and enjoy your breakfast. Which is included, among other perks like complimentary afternoon tea, when booking your stay with a Fora advisor!

Our time at the Belmond Mount Nelson was nothing short of magical. From the warm hospitality to the stunning suite upgrade, every moment felt like a celebration of life’s little luxuries. This is a place to be pampered, to feel inspired and to immerse yourself in the timeless elegance of Cape Town’s most cherished hotel.
