Villa Palladio Jaipur: A Dreamlike Retreat in the Aravali Hills
Curator’s statement

This past year I had the honor of staying (& getting married) at the incredible crimson and cream palace that is Villa Palladio. As a lover of maximalist interior design, I greatly admire Marie-Anne Oujedans, whose imagination is unlike anyone else. Together with Barbara Miolini, the duo have brought to life four stunning properties in Jaipur: Café Palladio, Bar Palladio, Polo Palladio and Villa Palladio. All exude a harmonious blend of Italian elegance and Indian opulence. I kept a close watch on the property as it was being finished. When my husband and I decided to elope, I knew it would be the most incredible place to do just that! We were lucky enough to have the country estate to ourselves for two full days there to take it all in. Here is a bit about this special place and our unforgettable stay.

The heart of Villa Palladio

Tucked away in the Aravali hills, nestled behind fort-like walls, you’ll find Villa Palladio — an undeniably unique property brimming with visual highlights. For those who are suckers for the details… this 9-key property far exceeds expectations. Here — color, texture and pattern come together to create a world of their own, captivating even the most well-traveled guest. The property is a striking blend of old-school haveli charm and modern luxury. Every element has been thoughtfully curated to create a sense of whimsy and playfulness, while celebrating the rich craftsmanship of India.

Villa Palladio is a celebration of craft and color, where Mughal, Moorish and Italian aesthetics converge seamlessly. Every surface that can be decorated has been decorated, from the hand-painted frescoes of roosters, palms and ferns to the embroidered bed sheets and block-printed bathrobes. No stone has been left unturned when it comes to the opportunity to add special touches.

Outside, verandas and dramatic scalloped arches make the villa feel like a storybook palace. Its checkerboard terrace, anchored by a bubbling fountain and Italian parasols, exudes both playfulness and tranquility — a space begging to be photographed at every turn (don’t worry, I did). There are four rooms at each corner of the terrace. The Torre Belvederes, each of which has its own rooftop patio offering breathtaking views of the surrounding Aravali mountains.

In the main building there are four Superior rooms and one Suite — where we chose to stay, of course. Striped corridors lead to the rooms, which are carefully appointed with hand-painted motifs and canopied beds. Bold hues of crimson, cherry and bubblegum swirl through the space, creating a maximalist design that is both carnival-like and elegant in its execution. In the grand suite, black-and-white checkered floors match those of the front entrance. Pattern and color work to create a playful yet peaceful mood. Meticulous layering of textures, combined with Indian craft methods, evokes a sense of tranquility

Signature features and culinary offerings

Beyond its architectural beauty, Villa Palladio offers a variety of experiences designed to elevate your stay. The perfectly manicured gardens, shaded by tall palms, create a peaceful retreat. The meditation room and spa are perfect for those hoping to disconnect, while the jewel-toned pool and candy-striped daybeds invite guests to bask in the sunshine. We also enjoyed plenty of aperitivo during our stay, most of which we sipped inside the tented pool house dressed in a scarlet chevron design.

Meals at Villa Palladio are a blend of traditional Indian cuisine and Italian-inspired favorites, which can be enjoyed on either of their colorful covered porches. The attention to detail in every dish is mirrored through the thoughtful staff, who ensure your stay is nothing short of exceptional. Once it’s time for bed, evening turn-down service includes hot water bottles tucked into your sheets, a Rajasthani treat and the weather forecast for the next day.

A stay like no other

In every sense, Villa Palladio is more than just a place to stay. The atmosphere was nothing short of magic — where every detail added to our unforgettable experience. Whether you’re visiting Jaipur for the rich history, the breathtaking beauty, or simply to relax in a refreshingly unique space, every moment spent here feels like an invitation to immerse yourself in a cultural richness and creativity. This is a true destination and not to be missed on any India itinerary!

Need to know

While I highly suggest enjoying the property to its fullest, should you want to venture into town. Villa Palladio has a cherry red vintage car — complete with reupholstered block-print seats — that can take you in style!

I’d love to help you make the most of your time in India by crafting the perfect itinerary for you!
