Location
The W is located off the main highway on the way to Punta Mita, about an hour north of Puerto Vallarta. Don’t let the entrance along the dirt road deter you! Upon arrival, guests are whisked down the hill by attentive hotel staff to the breathtaking lobby, where a refreshing cocktail awaits. Walking around the property feels like a secluded jungle until you look out your patio door and see the beach less than a 10 minute walk away.
Accommodations
Comprising 126 rooms, including 20 suites, all undergoing a makeover in 2024 to align with the evolving W brand, the accommodations offer both style and comfort. During my visit, I experienced the Spectacular Escape guest room, boasting a mesmerizing lake view, as well as the Oasis Suite, featuring both a whirlpool and plunge pool. Standard guest rooms feature either a king or two double beds, while all suites feature a king bed. Each room and suite offers a patio or balcony to relish the ocean breeze, and all suites have either a whirlpool or plunge pool for your enjoyment, or both!
Spa and Pools
W Punta de Mita offers two pools for their guests to enjoy, one family-friendly and one adults-only. On select days, there is a DJ providing the soundtrack to your pool hangout as well as pool beds and chairs offering ample space for all.
The award-winning AWAY spa is a must-visit while at the W. With gorgeous indoor/outdoor treatment pools and massage rooms connected to the outdoor spa pools, you’ll feel like you’re being pampered under the jungle canopy.
Dining
There are six eateries on site, each offering guests something different. The Chevycheria serves up their famous ceviches and margaritas all day long next to the pool in an old Chevy truck. Spice Market and Venazú are the popular dinner restaurants, while Mesa1 offers a private fine-dining experience for two to 10 guests complete with a seven-course dinner served on a private terrace amidst a serene lake.
Need to know
The W Punta de Mita impresses with its uniquely decorated rooms, luxurious spa, inviting pools, and picturesque surroundings. While the hotel caters to all ages, the atmosphere leans toward an adult-focused vibe. All rooms are beautiful, but the suites truly leave you amazed. While the food is excellent, the options might be limited for guests wanting a wider selection of restaurants. If staying for more than two nights, I would recommend venturing off the property to nearby towns, Punta Mita and Sayulita to experience the local culture and cuisine for an evening. For a rejuvenating escape amidst the jungle, I highly recommend a long weekend at this beachside oasis!
