Curator’s statement
In the fall of 2024, I stayed at the beautiful Dorothea Hotel in Budapest. It is located just steps away from the Danube River on the Pest side of the city. The Dorothea Hotel is a stunning design forward hotel with sustainable features that makes for a perfect home base while staying in Budapest.

The hotel is located in the Vorosmarty Square, right next to upscale shopping and pedestrian streets. The Danube River with it's famous Chain Bridge is about a two-minute walk away. This makes the hotel the perfect location to explore the iconic architecture situated on both the Pest and Buda sides of the river.

The hotel is housed in three historic buildings spanning the block and is comprised of 216 guest rooms and suites. The works of Hungarian art and fashion photographer Zoltan Tombor immediately greet you. His work is featured where you enter the lobby before passing through stunning columns and an artwork chandelier. Be sure to explore the property's visually stunning corners and unique art and history displays during your stay.

I had the pleasure of being upgraded to the Elizabeth Suite upon check in, a sweet surprise after receiving a refreshing non-alcoholic beverage from the reception team as I was welcomed in for my stay (my guests can expect the same perks, based on availability). The suites are located on the upper floors. Many also feature balconies providing views of the river and deep soaking tubs to relax in after a full day of exploration. Choose between the Contemporary and Heritage buildings for guests' rooms featuring two distinct design focuses.

The Pavilion Bar and Restaurant is a true architectural scene to take in. Here you will see a live green herb wall and beautiful mosaic tiles among an atrium set within the hotel. Book with me and level up your stay with a free breakfast served here each morning. Anton's Deli and Bar is a great all-day cafe serving coffee and pastries during the day and unique cocktails in the evenings.
Be sure to book spa treatments in advance to enjoy the small but serene space during your stay. The spa features a sauna, steam room and pool to unwind. If fitness is a priority while traveling, you'll find a full fitness center on site.
