Curator’s statement
Hidden in the heart of South Africa’s Cape Winelands, Sterrekopje Farm is not just a retreat — it’s a place where time slows. My stay here was not only a getaway but a restorative experience that blended ritual, nature and intentional design.

From the moment I arrived, I noticed how effortlessly Sterrekopje invites you to disconnect. Each day at the farm, you are surrounded by the beauty of the mountains and guided by thoughtful rituals. As part of your stay, you are treated to two signature experiences. One is a relaxing massage and the other is a hammam treatment that leaves you feeling rejuvenated in both body and spirit. These moments felt like anchors, grounding me to the peaceful rhythm of the farm and setting the tone for a restorative experience.

One of my favorite aspects of Sterrekopje is its design. The interiors, lovingly chosen by designer Gregory Mellor, blend earthy textures, soft neutral tones and handcrafted furnishings. Antique pieces with rich histories are paired effortlessly with natural materials like linen, stone and wood. Creating an atmosphere that feels timeless and grounding. I had the pleasure of staying in two different rooms during my stay — each of which created a unique experience.

The experience at Sterrekopje was made even more special by its approach to food. Each meal is prepared with care and attention, using ingredients grown right on the farm. The meals are homemade and full of vibrant flavors that reflect the season. At breakfast, each menu item is designed to nourish the mind, body and spirit while being packed with nutrients. You’re offered things like adaptogen collagen matcha, cognitive-boosting lattes, an assortment of juices and whole-food-packed a-là-carte options. For lunch — sparkling mocktails crafted with homemade cordials, served alongside fresh fish, corn fritters and bok choy from the garden. When it’s time for dinner, there are a variety of areas you can choose from to enjoy your meals. My favorites were the main dining room with it’s hand painted fireplace, and the back sunroom with it’s colorful, layered textiles and African-inspired frescoes. All meals are included in with your stay.

Surrounded by vineyards, fynbos and stunning South African mountains — this isn’t just a place to visit. It’s a place to embrace simplicity, and to immerse yourself in moments that truly matter. Sterrekopje Farm is a gift to anyone seeking not just an escape, but an experience that lingers long after you leave.
Need to know
You must pay visits to all of the animals on the farm! My morning walks to visit the pigs were a favorite part of my stay.
