I had the opportunity to explore three very distinct yet equally fascinating cities: Frankfurt, Berlin and Dresden. Each city boasts its own unique charm, from historic landmarks to cutting-edge architecture. Whether you're a history buff, an art lover or simply in search of a vibrant cultural experience, these cities have something to offer. Let me take you on a journey through these incredible destinations. First stop was Frankfurt. Both my hubby and I stayed at Lume, a very cute, charming boutique hotel, situated very near the train station and walking distance to the city's vibrant culture scene. Every staff member was amazing and very attentive. Tons of history best of all, very high-end shopping.

Frankfurt: A modern metropolis with rich heritage

Frankfurt Cathedral (Kaiserdom St. Bartholomäus): This Gothic cathedral, with its towering spires, offers stunning views of the city from its bell tower.
Frankfurt is also home to world-class museums like the Städel Museum, showcasing European art, and the German Architecture Museum, a treat for architecture enthusiasts. The city is an exciting mix of old and new, making it a perfect destination for travelers interested in both history and modernity.
Berlin: The vibrant capital of Germany
Berlin, the capital of Germany, is a dynamic city that seamlessly combines its complex history with a modern, multicultural vibe.
Key highlights
Brandenburg Gate: One of Berlin’s most iconic landmarks, this neoclassical arch symbolizes the reunification of Germany and is a must-see for anyone visiting the city. (Very touching and what an experience!)
Reichstag Building: The seat of the German parliament, this building has a fascinating history and offers a glass dome that provides a stunning 360-degree view of the city. (be prepared for lots of walking, wear comfortable shoes)
Berlin Wall and East Side Gallery: The Berlin Wall, a symbol of division during the Cold War, has now become a canvas for street artists, turning parts of the wall into an open-air gallery. It’s an essential stop to understand the city’s turbulent past. (very emotional)
Berlin is known as their "hub" for art, music, and culture, and no visit is complete without exploring its vibrant neighborhoods, like Kreuzberg and Neukölln, which showcase the city’s youthful energy. (Music played was awesome!)
Dresden: A Baroque beauty on the Elbe River (My favorite of all three!)
Dresden is often described as one of the most beautiful cities in Germany. It’s known for its stunning baroque architecture, as well as its historical significance. While much of the city was destroyed during World War II, you can see where it has been restored to its former glory.
Key highlights
Zwinger Palace: A magnificent baroque palace with extensive gardens and museums, including the famous Old Masters Picture Gallery. (We SERIOUSLY spent the entire day here)
Frauenkirche: A symbol of Dresden’s rebirth after WWII, this church was beautifully restored and offers breathtaking views of the city from its dome. (wear VERY comfortable shoes)
Brühl’s Terrace: Known as the "Balcony of Europe," this scenic spot offers lovely views of the Elbe River and is a great place to relax. (Very relaxing and lovely strolls)
Dresden is known for its strong artistic presence, with many galleries and cultural institutions. The city’s peaceful atmosphere, combined with its historical landmarks, makes it a perfect destination for those looking to explore Germany’s cultural heritage.
