Curator’s statement
I keep a hotel bucket list. More often than not, a well-designed property with a strong sense of place, is the motivator behind my visits to certain areas. And Marbella Club is no exception. I am a huge fan of Marie-Caroline Willms’ bold and spirited interiors. After following her renovations of this hotel closely, I knew I had to move it to the top of my wish list. I spent three amazing nights at this property in June, so now I can give it a proper review!

Set along the golden sands of Spain's Costa del Sol, this legendary destination blends Andalusian charm with modern sophistication. Marbella Club is a place where history, luxury and nature harmoniously meet. And thanks to the visionary renovations by Marie-Caroline Willms, the magic feels even more alive than ever.

Walking into the Marbella Club feels like stepping into another world. Originally a rustic seaside retreat, the hotel has evolved into a serene escape that keeps its heritage close while embracing a whimsical, layered and transportive design. The vibrant color palette weaves together warm earth tones, sunlit yellows and pops of Mediterranean blues and greens. All grounded by the natural textures of terracotta tiles and wooden beams. Through patterned fabrics and an eclectic mix of bohemian wallpapers, each space is unique and tells a story of its own.

Outside, the hotel’s pool area is pure paradise — it’s framed by lush greenery and dotted with chic loungers and inviting cabanas, while the breeze carries the scent of nearby jasmine through the air. The heart of oasis is the Pool Bar & Grill, where guests can indulge in light, flavorful dishes prepared with fresh, local ingredients. I enjoyed their fresh guacamole — which is made table-side — along with the grilled octopus and vegetables. Whether you’re enjoying a leisurely swim or savoring a refreshing cocktail, the ambiance is effortlessly chic. For ocean lovers, Marbella Club offers direct access to its pristine stretch of beach. Loungers are also offered down on the sand.

Of course, the amenities extend far beyond the pool and ocean. From world-class dining and a serene wellness spa to a kids’ club and indoor/outdoor gym, there’s something for everyone. The gardens, dotted with tropical plants and fragrant flowers, feel like an extension of the natural surroundings. A place where you can relax, recharge or simply wander.

Marie-Caroline Willms didn’t just renovate the Marbella Club — she reimagined what a coastal retreat could be. It’s a testament to how thoughtful design can enhance the essence of a place. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or returning for the hundredth time, Marbella Club promises an experience that’s unforgettable.
