Portrait Milano Trip Feedback

Background/Location: The Portrait Milano (apart of the Lungarno Collection, owned by the Ferragamo family) recently opened this year in the shopping district of Milan. Although it sits among some of the more crowded areas of Milan, it sits back, in one of Europe's oldest Monasteries (16th century) so you feel like you are in a private oasis in the middle of the hustle and bustle. 10 min walk to the Galleria and the Duomo.

Service: From booking to check-in, this was some of the best service that I have experienced at a 5-star hotel. When we arrived via taxi, Portrait staff were there at the street entrance to greet us, ask our names and wave us in. The concierge/front desk staff were so personable, genuinely inquired about our stay, "How can we make this special for you?" When we arrived in our *upgraded room* after our welcome glass of wine, the staff had set up a beautiful table of treats, heart balloons and they even had an Instagram reel of my husband son and I from my profile playing up on the hotel room TV. You'd think that would be all but when we got home from dinner, turndown service had left us a bottle of Ferragamo fragrance on each side of the night stand! We were blown away.

Rooms: "Cozy Luxury," which I personally love about the Portrait hotels. We were upgraded to a Garden View Deluxe Suite which had beautiful views of the back courtyard. The bathrooms were to die for (see pics below) but my favorite part was the control system they had on the wall, you could control everything in the room from one spot, but the best part— you could dim the backlight of the control system so that the room was PITCH BLACK overnight. One of my personal pet peeves is light shining from random devices in a hotel room, they really thought of everything!

Bar/Food: Breakfast buffet was out of this world. They have it in the naturally lit dining area next to the courtyard. Everything we ate was delicious and the presentation was outstanding. As it relates to the bar, this is going to be my only negative comment- the bartenders and host staff were a bit sharp and not as warm as the rest of the staff. We had beautiful cocktails and could sit and people watch as the bar/lounge was quite busy with beautiful locals at 4pm on a Sunday.

Facilities: Stunning outdoor dining area as shown in pictures. Perfect spot for aperitivo. There are a couple of high-end boutiques and a restaurants (beefbar) occupying the other commercial locations around the square, but it was so quiet when we were there you would have had no idea. They are currently finishing their spa/gym and their rooftop terrace (set to be complete by fall) but they have facilities available at a local high end gym next door for guests to use complimentary.
