Site Inspection at Conrad Los Angeles
Curator’s statement

I often travel to Los Angeles for work and am always looking for a well located downtown hotel that is fresh and fun. The Conrad Los Angeles (opened in 2022) hits all the marks in a gorgeous building that is a great jump off point for an LA trip. I keep coming back to the Conrad and recommend it to my clients.

The Conrad Los Angeles is the brand's first California property and it was a strong debut in 2022. The building is designed by legendary architect Frank Gehry and is stunning. The hotel is located right in downtown, across the street from the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Downtown is about 30 minutes from LAX via taxi, although that can vary widely depending on traffic. You are walkable to Chinatown and the business district as well.

The hotel has 305 rooms, on the 11th to 28th floor of the building. There are three penthouses with balconies, 11 one king bedroom suites, 29 corner suites, seven studios with king beds, 39 rooms with two full beds and 216 guest rooms with one king. I was in a studio king and had a beautiful view that included the mountains and the Hollywood sign. The technology is fantastic and you can shut down and open the whole room (shades, lamps, etc.) with the touch of a button.

Check in is on the 10th floor and that's also where the hotel's restaurants are. San Laurel and Agua Viva are both highlights. The hotel has partnered with acclaimed chef Jose Andres to serve the best of Spanish Cuisine, I had delicious breakfast and dinner at San Laurel and can't recommend it enough. In addition to the San Laurel and Agua Viva, you have to check out The Beaudry Room: a bar located on the 10th floor with indoor and outdoor seating,

In true LA style, the pool is the largest in Downtown Los Angeles, and the gym is open 24 hours and the hotel offers guided fitness classes every Saturday and Sunday. I regret I didn't have a chance to check out the Spa, but it's on the ninth floor and they offer unique recovery rooms. On my next visit, I'm not missing the Spa and it does get high marks so definitely check it out.

Need to know

The Conrad is a sleek, gorgeous new property that is centrally located for either a business or personal trip. I recommend the hotel for those who need to be in the downtown area or what a truly central home base. If you are interested in an LA getaway, reach out and I can help!
