Where to stay
Carnival Radiance
A vibrant floating paradise, offering thrilling entertainment, delectable dining and boundless adventures on the high seas.
In May of 2024, I enjoyed a Carnival Cruise along Mexico’s Pacific coastline. Of the three ports of call, Los Cabos was our last one before setting sail back to Long Beach, California. As a family, we were looking for an easy-to-execute trip to celebrate our daughter’s college graduation. A Carnival Cruise was exactly what we were looking for.
Getting there
From the marina in Los Cabos, many water taxis will take you to Lovers Beach. The ride itself was a highlight, offering picturesque views of the coastline and the famous Arch of Cabo San Lucas (El Arco). The water taxi operators were friendly and knowledgeable and came back to pick us up at a mutually convenient time.
Upon arrival, Lovers Beach Los Cabos exceeded all our expectations. The sand was soft and golden, and the water was crystal clear. The beach is framed by towering rock formations, providing a dramatic and secluded atmosphere. We arrived early, before 9 am, and had the entire beach to ourselves. The waters on the Sea of Cortez side were rough, and although there was a designated swimming area, it was treacherous. It is important to note that there are no facilities at Lovers Beach Los Cabos. It is essential to come prepared. There are no restrooms, food vendors or shaded areas.
The other side
One of the unique features of Lovers Beach Los Cabos is its proximity to Divorce Beach (Playa del Divorcio), located just a short walk away on the Pacific Ocean side. While Lovers Beach has a designated swimming area, Divorce Beach is known for its powerful waves and strong currents, making it unsuitable for swimming but perfect for dramatic photos.
Our visit to Lovers Beach Los Cabos was unforgettable. The combination of stunning natural beauty, serene waters, and the adventure of getting there made our visit to Cabo San Lucas a highlight.
Need to know
I recommend packing a bag with snacks and water, as there are no amenities at this beach gem!
