Curator’s statement
Salamander Resort and Spa Middleburg is a stone's throw away from the bustle of the nation's capital — Washington, D.C. I recently visited the property and was charmed by the beautiful property and incredible spa. I would highly recommend planning a staycation getaway to this property where families, couples and solo travelers alike will be pampered and rejuvenated by a weekend away.

Location:
The resort is a scenic 90-minute drive from Washington, D.C. Take in the scenic views as you make your way to the resort, passing wineries, farms and small towns once you've cleared the Northern Virginia main roads. When you arrive to the town of Middleburg, you will want to take note of the adorable antique shops and tasty restaurants in the town proper (keep in mind that the resort has a fleet of Audi SUVs to take you into town, subject to availability and arrangement with the concierge).
Accommodations:
Choose from luxury rooms, some boasting deep soaking tubs, fireplaces and views of the beautiful lawns and greenery of the property.
Dining:
The Gold Cup Wine Bar offers an all-day menu of delicious snacks (the cheeseboard was my favorite), wine and live piano on Fridays and Saturdays. Harriman's serves a delicious breakfast, and dinner is served from Wednesday to Sunday evenings. Make sure not to leave without grabbing some of the resort's signature pecan butterscotch scones, which can be found in the gift shop.
Spa:
Consistently voted one of the best spas in Virginia, make sure to book a signature treatment, which changes seasonally. The relaxation areas are a particular delight, serving teas, house-made cookies and crackers (the parmesan rosemary crackers are not to be missed).
Need to know
I recommend the Salamander Resort and Spa in Middleburg, Virginia to clients looking to relax and recharge. It is the perfect place for equestrian lovers, wine aficionados and families looking to indulge in fun resort activities. The town of Middleburg presents a number of charming shops and restaurants to expand on your stay (unless the award-winning spa on-site of the in-room fireplaces and soaking tubs keep you rooted to this gorgeous property).
