Curator’s statement
Las Vegas, Nevada is an iconic destination for fun in the desert sun, and you can dial it up or down as you wish. I planned a celebratory event at Resorts World Las Vegas where the group could relax and enjoy the classiest, best of Vegas — in proximity to the Strip but away from the crowds. The resort is made up of the Conrad, Hilton and Crockfords hotels, and is a very nice, classy resort that is just big enough without being too big or overwhelming. I would say the clientele was a mix of families, couples and some special event groups. It was on the chill side. Also, Resorts World has casinos but has many other amenities as well, so the casinos aren't the entire reason to stay there.

Where to stay in Las Vegas

Check in was very easy. My group was able to mostly check in early and relax. My group stayed in the Conrad, and I recommend requesting a higher-floor room if you would like a view of the Strip. To be frank, it is not much of a view but sometimes you just want to feel like you are in Vegas. Some of us were upgraded to better rooms, based upon status and availability. My King room was nice but nothing special.
In terms of drinks and dining:
For a fast and casual lunch, I recommend selecting an option in the Famous Foods “street food” area behind the casinos, which has everything from comfort foods like noodles to fish and chips to bubble tea.
For an upscale lunch or dinner in a quiet environment, I recommend Wally’s, which has a nice, industrial chic feel to it without being snobby or cold. Their salads, charcuterie and wine selections were particularly impressive.
There weren’t really great brunch options open between nine and 11 am at the resort. If you are more in the mood for a quick breakfast, I recommend grabbing something at the Randy’s Doughnuts or Sun's Out Buns Out, an egg-centric restaurant.
For a pre-show drink or nightcap, I recommend the Crystal Bar or Gatsby’s Cocktail Lounge.
I prioritized checking out the Awana Spa and the pools — in the name of research, of course. If you are booking a treatment at the Awana spa and will be relaxing in their pools and spa and sauna area, you will need a swimsuit. The Awana pools, heated loungers and spa area are large enough that it is not crowded, and the changing facilities are generous. The higher price tag of the spa seems to keep the vibe chill and the crowds away. It’s very easy to charge everything to your room — and do ask for a cup of tea because their signature blend is delightful. They also have small snacks available, fresh fruit and spa water.
The resort pools are emptier in the morning, and busier in the afternoon. It gets very hot in the full Nevada sun. There is a generously-sized family pool area with a splash pad. I recommend the adults-only infinity pool for the ultimate getaway, as it is not crowded and has plenty of cabanas and a dedicated bar area with misters. The vibe is casual and cool, but without the snobbery or party aspect that some of the other Las Vegas hotels have in spades.
Need to know
If you are looking for a quieter, smoke-free venue, Conrad at the Resorts World Las Vegas is a lovely option and is only a few minutes away by car. I would absolutely stay again, and especially if I were bringing a family to Las Vegas this is the hotel I would pick. It was clean, I never felt crowded and there were ample elevators, restaurants and space so that it felt like there was plenty of room and options without being overwhelming.
If you have special requests like dinner reservations, flowers or a limo, work with the Concierge team. I had a great experience coordinating some particular events and tickets for a large group. I recommend asking about dinner reservations at Delilah at the Wynn, or seeing Absinthe at Caesar's Palace — they were both exceptional.
At check in, scan the QR code. That’s how you can order food, request housekeeping or check out by text. Also, the Uber and Lyft transportation pick up area is about a five-minute hike through the casino area and down around the corner, so plan accordingly.
