Review of Disney Fantasy’s Premium Offerings
Curator’s statement

Disney brings out the inner child in all of us. I am partial to Disney Cruises because it is a stress-free way for my family to relax with appropriate child and adult amenities, and with exceptional child care on board. I’ve previously sailed on the Disney Dream for a nine-night Mediterranean cruise, and booked a seven-night sailing closer to home on the Disney Fantasy for spring break in the Caribbean.

Where to stay

This sailing was a seven-night Caribbean cruise with visits to Mexico, Grand Cayman, Jamaica, and the private Disney island Castaway Cay, in the Bahamas. I anticipated this sailing would be crowded given the season (Spring Break), and departure and return location of Port Canaveral, FL. I focused on premium experiences aboard the Fantasy, so that my family had quiet time to unwind and not feel hassled by crowds.

Premium experiences worth the splurge:

First, I highly recommend Concierge class for the extra stateroom space, generous amenities (lounge, private sun deck), and quiet location. Concierge services such as reserved seating for Broadway shows, and perks are thoughtfully designed for a calmer, more exclusive onboard experience. I was particularly impressed with the small touches - the private sun deck included a variety of sunscreen and even SPF for babies.

Next, I recommend purchasing a pass to the Senses Spas’ Rainforest Room. The Rainforest Room is a quiet area on the right-hand side of the Senses Spa and fitness area, and requires a special wristband to access it for those who prioritize exclusivity and relaxation. There are heated loungers, a private sun deck with hot tubs, hammam, sauna, rain showers, and practically a guarantee that it will be empty and never a wait. This experience is unlisted on the website, and can be booked once your reservation window opens.

Last but not least, do splurge for the onboard dining at Remy or Palo, the adults-only restaurants on board. The food quality, presentation, and experienced service are a cut above the main restaurants aboard the ship. I also recommend enjoying an aperitif (try the gimlet) at the Meridien, which is adjacent to the restaurants; the outdoor seating is particularly lovely at sunset.

Premium Experience NOT worth the splurge:

I do not recommend reserving the much sought-after Castaway Cay cabanas, as they are overpriced for the amount of time you will actually be on island. If you do wish to book, the Serenity Bay Cabana #23 or 24 are my recommendation, as they enjoy direct beach access.

Need to know

Consider which room category and location works well for your family. I am partial to Room 6688 (Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah , Category 6B) on the Disney Fantasy (or its sister ship the Disney Dream) since it is a quiet room on the back of the ship and has little foot traffic or noise.
