Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe Airport and Drive to Latitude 0 Hotel in Kampala
The trip began with my arrival at Entebbe Airport. After the immigration process, I were greeted by my friendly guide who led us to our comfortable vehicle. As this was my first time visiting Uganda, the drive made for an excellent introduction to this beautiful country.
Arriving at Latitude 0 Hotel, my home for the next two nights, was like stepping into a dream. The stunning interior design, the friendly staff, the inviting pools, and the breathtaking views immediately won over my heart.
Day 2: Exploring Kampala and Community Project Visit
Starting the day with a hearty breakfast at Latitude 0, we dove into the vibrant energy of Kampala. From visiting landmarks like the Kabaka’s Palace to engaging with the local community during a visit to a school, every moment was filled with genuine connection. We ended the day with a magical sunset cruise on Lake Victoria, complete with refreshing drinks.
Day 3: Drive to Ndali Lodge in Kasenda
Leaving the city behind, we embarked on a picturesque drive to Ndali Lodge in Kasenda. Nestled on the edge of a crater lake, the lodge is a haven of tranquility. The breathtaking views offered a perfect escape, allowing me to unwind and fully appreciate the beauty of this exceptional property.
Day 4: Kibale Forest Chimpanzee Trekking and Bigodi Wetlands Walk
An early morning drive took us to Kibale Forest for an unforgettable chimpanzee trekking experience. Our exceptional guide found a group of chimpanzees quite quickly and we were so lucky to spend the next hour or so in the presence of them. In the afternoon, a leisurely walk through Bigodi Wetlands allowed us to appreciate the rich biodiversity of the region.
Day 5: Drive to Elephant Plains Lodge and Queen Elizabeth National Park Game Drive
Continuing our journey, we drove to Elephant Plains Lodge, strategically positioned near Queen Elizabeth National Park. In the afternoon, we went on a game drive which brought us close to elephants, buffaloes and various antelope species.
Day 6: Queen Elizabeth National Park Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Safari
Another exciting day as we went on another game drive in the early morning. From a leopard sighting to encounters with lions and elephants, it was such a dream come true. The afternoon was filled with a different adventure: a boat safari along the Kazinga Channel, where we saw hippos, crocodiles, elephants and a variety of bird species.
Day 7: Drive to Bwindi Lodge
The journey to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest was an adventure in itself. Winding roads and lush landscapes guided us to Bwindi Lodge, where the sounds of the forest and mist-covered mountains created a captivating welcome.
Day 8: Gorilla Trekking at Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
On our final full day in Uganda, we went on our much-anticipated gorilla trekking in Bwindi. Our guide, the trackers and our porters all did an amazing job. We found our gorilla family with which we spend approximately an hour. It was such an amazing experience which left all of us speechless and in awe.
Day 9: Flight from Kihihi Airstrip to Entebbe and Departure
To end this incredible trip, we took a short flight from Kihihi Airstrip to Entebbe where we boarded our flight back home.
