Miami Beach is the United States’ quintessential beach party destination — it’s lavish, electric, glamorous. The best Miami Beach hotels range from luxe high-rises to laid-back boutique properties to sprawling resorts — all with beach access and ocean views. We asked Fora travel advisors to share their picks for Miami Beach hotels, split between South Beach, Mid-Beach and North Beach. Read their recommendations below.
The difference between staying in Miami Beach and South Beach
The South Beach, Mid-Beach and North Beach neighborhoods are all part of Miami Beach. When you picture Miami Beach, you likely envision the famous, pastel-colored Art Deco corridor of South Beach and its glamorous parties on electric, white-sand beaches. This walkable area is famous for its wild, celebrity-filled nightlife and ocean views.
Mid-Beach and North Beach, on the other hand, offer a relaxing experience away from the party vibe to the south. It’s notably less walkable — there are pockets of upscale shops and restaurants, especially as you approach South Beach — but the emphasis is generally on the resorts themselves. Deciding which area to stay in is a matter of preference.
Miami Beach hotels: South Beach
South Beach properties received the most recommendations from Fora Advisors. Here, you’ll find luxurious, high-rise hotels with Art Deco charm and booming nightlife. There are also a handful of stylish boutique hotels that offer a more subdued stay without sacrificing their prime waterfront locations.
The Betsy Hotel

The Betsy has an upscale but homey vibe. Bright and cheery rooms come with artful touches, booklined shelves and eclectic décor throughout. Larger common spaces put a contemporary spin on Miami Beach’s famed Art Deco movement.
“The atmosphere is Old Florida-elevated, and the lobby, where live jazz music is constantly played, feels like a refined respite from South Beach’s party scene,” Fora Advisor Melia Tipton said.
The hotel has two pool areas: a hip hangout on the roof, and a quiet “haven for art lovers.” All stays include complimentary yoga on the oceanfront terrace along with a beach that includes two chairs and an umbrella.
The Betsy’s location is another excellent trait: “It's walking distance to all the vibey spots in the neighborhood, but it's on the quieter, easy-to-access end of the row, so you get the best of both beach and nightlife,” Fora X Advisor Alicia Anderson highlighted. But there’s plenty to do on site, too.
“Start your morning with sunrise yoga, enjoy an afternoon at the beach and end your day with live music and a great meal,” she added.
Fora Perks include a welcome amenity, complimentary drink at the Lobby Bar or Roof Deck, daily breakfast and an upgrade whenever possible.
1 Hotel South Beach

1 Hotel South Beach is a luxurious and eco-conscious property at the northernmost tip of South Beach. The super-contemporary hotel features twin pool areas and lengthy beach access (about 600 feet), chic guestrooms and suites (including expansive penthouses) and farm-to-table dining. There are eight different restaurants at 1 Hotel, including a rooftop Japanese-inspired restaurant, Watr, and a beachside Mediterranean café.
“The property focuses on sustainability without compromising on luxury,” Fora Advisor Shrinal Patel said.
1 Hotel puts nature at the forefront. You’ll love its breezy, plant-filled beach theme and organic incorporation of a variety of sustainable practices. These practices included LEED Silver certification, exterior plant walls that absorb CO2 generated on the property and restaurant menus featuring dishes made of sustainably sourced ingredients (like bluehouse salmon and produce from local farms). It’s evident this line of thinking was incorporated into the rooms, as well. Furnishings are crafted from reclaimed woods, all fabrics are naturally sourced and living plants are placed throughout the property, including guestrooms.
Fora Perks include a $100 hotel credit, daily breakfast, an upgrade and extended check-in/out whenever possible.
The Lennox Miami Beach

The Lennox is a quiet boutique hotel in the heart of the otherwise buzzing South Beach, directly across from the 20th Street beach entrance. (The hotel even provides chairs and umbrellas for guests there, and they’ll also ferry you around by golf cart.) Though smaller in scale than the grandiose high-rises that fill South Beach, The Lennox feels complementary rather than out of place. The atmosphere is discerning and sophisticated, cultivated by an artful design and impeccable service.
“The Lennox is my go-to not only for personal travel, but for all my clients looking for a boutique Miami Beach experience,” Fora Advisor Aimee Morice said.
Along with chic rooms and design-forward décor, Aimee highlighted The Lennox’s pool — “the perfect place to relax” — and restaurant, Amelia.
“If I'm not feeling like ‘it's-a-sand-in-the-toes' kind of day, the pool and bar is where you'll find me. The bartenders are excellent and know how to make a perfect mojito!” she added.
Amelia melds Mediterranean, Moroccan (learn more about Moroccan food) and Latin influences in an upscale but casual setting.
“I had the best salmon of my life there, and the breakfasts are amazing too (the avocado toast and shakshuka are favorites),” Aimee said.
Fora’s withIN by SLH partner perks include a $50 hotel credit, daily breakfast, an upgrade and extended check-in/out whenever possible.
W South Beach

W South Beach has a striking geometric façade and chic, ultra-modern rooms. The color palette bounces between pastels and high-contrast whites and blacks along with blink-and-you’ll-miss-the-small-details minimalist décor.
“The W South Beach is unlike any other W resort you’ve stayed at,” Fora Advisor Megan Freedman said. “I would highly recommend it for those looking for ocean views, luxury amenities and modern fresh décor.”
Most rooms and suites have ocean views or open up to the beach, and some feature private plunge pools on their balconies. There’s also a large pool area, expansive fitness center, laser-lit nightclub, tennis courts and luxury spa with a nail salon and yoga studio.
Fora Advisor Sarah Keim said the property is her top pick for those who want a luxurious private space to relax in between time at the beach or out enjoying dining and other activities.
Fora’s Marriott STARS partner perks include a $100 hotel credit, a welcome amenity, daily breakfast, an upgrade and extended check-in/out whenever possible.
Loews Miami Beach Hotel

Image courtesy of Loews Miami Beach Hotel
Loews Miami Beach is a contemporary take on mid-century modern design — and all at relatively approachable rates. Rooms and suites offer ocean or skyline views, plenty of space and options for balconies. Megan described the hotel as a “vibrant and elevated hotel in a prime oceanfront location.” Beach access is a given, but the property is conveniently located at the midway point between City Center and Flamingo. Enjoy the work of local artists or take a class at the Oolite Arts center, admire the architecture of the Arts Deco district and catch an event at Soundscape Park or New World Center. There are a lot of fun, culturally rich things to do here.
Fora Perks include daily breakfast, an upgrade and extended check-in/out whenever possible.
The Setai, Miami Beach

Image courtesy of The Setai, Miami Beach
The Setai is a luxurious work of art. Eastern and Western design philosophies converge to offer a fresh option on South Beach. The lobby, for example, uses actual bricks and décor removed from Old Shanghai. Rooms boast hardwood floors and, depending on your chosen tower, an updated Art Deco theme or a contemporary Asian aesthetic. The spa continues the theme with a blend of traditional Eastern treatments and Western cosmetics. If you’re traveling with a large group of friends — or simply want spacious rooms to yourself — The Setai should be a top choice. Each suite is artfully decorated, with floor-to-ceiling windows that take advantage of South Beach’s beautiful scenery.
"On Saturdays, make sure you check out the legendary rosé brunch,” Fora X Advisor Lauren Cherney said.
The Setai’s dining options range from elevated takes on Chinese, Indian, Thai, Mediterranean and Balinese fare.
Fora Perks include a $100 food and beverage credit, daily breakfast, an upgrade and extended check-in/out whenever possible.
Kimpton Surfcomber Hotel

Image courtesy of Kimpton Surfcomber Hotel
The Surfcomber is a great choice if you’re looking for hotels under $500 in Miami. And it’s still upscale and comfortable — plus, it offers Kimpton’s exceptional service.
“The Kimpton Surfcomber Hotel offers an intimate stay with an incredibly friendly staff and boutique feel,” Megan said.
It has a playful vibe, yoga classes, a pool deck with cabanas and two beachfront restaurants, High Tide Beach Bar and Grill and The Social Club. The former has a laid-back vibe — except when it’s hosting pool parties — and casual seafood menu. The latter is a wine bar with charcuterie and shareable bites.
Miami Beach hotels: Mid-Beach and North Beach
Mid-Beach offers a balanced mix of luxury and tranquility. Upscale resorts, refined dining options and less-crowded beaches create a sophisticated environment without sacrificing access to Miami's busier nightlife to the south. In contrast, North Beach has more of a low-key, local vibe. Nightlife and entertainment are still within reach, but there’s enough separation between neighborhoods to enjoy uninterrupted privacy and relaxation.
Acqualina Resort & Residences On The Beach (North Beach)

Image courtesy of Acqualina Resort & Residences On The Beach
The Acqualina is a luxe, Mediterranean-themed property, offering a mix of high-rise rooms and beachfront residences. It has a homey yet elegant atmosphere, and stellar service.
“The Acqualina is one of those places where everyone knows your name, literally,” Fora Advisor Melissa Star. “The staff clearly does their homework and takes customer service to a whole new level.”
Enjoy Mediterranean and Japanese dining options, a high-end spa, a gelato bar and plenty of family-friendly activities on site, like giant chess, various outdoor sports and kite flying. There are also pools for adults and families.
“I get a little thrill every time I think about lying under that red umbrella on a beach lounger more comfortable than my bed at home and being offered that complimentary smoothie,” Melissa said. “‘Mrs. Star, would you care for a blueberry smoothie?’ — ‘Why yes, yes I would.’"
Fora Reserve perks include a $100 resort credit, a welcome amenity, daily breakfast and extended check-in/out whenever possible.
The Miami Beach EDITION (Mid-Beach)

Image courtesy of The Miami Beach EDITION
The Miami Beach, EDITION has a luxurious minimalist theme that’s as posh as it is comfortable. You’ll love the sophisticated, understated rooms. What’s not included in the brochure might be EDITION’s best feature, though. The basement floor turns into an adults-only nightclub, complete with a bowling alley, ice rink and élite sound system. If you’re looking for a fun but world-class hotel in Miami Beach, this is an excellent option.
“I would highly recommend it to those looking for an oceanfront escape, exquisite rooms and high-quality dining,” Fora Advisor Megan Freedman said.
Fora’s Marriott STARS partner perks include a $100 hotel credit, a welcome amenity, daily breakfast, an upgrade and extended check-in/out whenever possible.
Faena Hotel Miami Beach (Mid-Beach)

Even among the most luxe hotels in Miami Beach, Faena stands out with its bold décor and nearly unrivaled sophistication. This upscale, art-filled hotel greets you with the works of acclaimed artists and a striking red-and-gold palette that extends throughout the property (there’s even a gilded mammoth fossil by Damien Hirst on display in the hotel’s manicured courtyard). The entertainment and gastronomy are also carefully curated (don’t miss Los Fuegos By Francis Mallmann, an open-fire concept serving elevated Argentine cuisine).
Accommodation-wise, expect meticulous attention to detail and exquisite furnishings. This is not your everyday hotel — Faena is where to stay in Miami Beach if you want uncompromising luxury with an artful touch. Likewise, Faena is one of the most exclusive options in the area.
Fora’s Accor Preferred partner perks include a $100 hotel credit, daily breakfast, an upgrade and extended check-in/out whenever possible.
Fontainebleau Miami Beach (Mid-Beach)

Arguably the most iconic hotel in Miami Beach, Fontainebleau has been a Mid-Beach fixture since it first opened in 1954. Over the decades, Fontainebleau has maintained a reputation as a world-class hotel where celebrities and discerning travelers go to unwind amidst the élite amenities and stunning ocean views. Enjoy lavish rooms — including condo-style ones in the Trésor Tower — and high-end amenities ranging from the full-service spa to a plethora of fine and casual dining choices.
Fora Perks include complimentary air and concierge services.
Miami Beach hotel and travel FAQs
Here’s some more information about visiting Miami Beach and its hotels.
Is Miami safe? Is Miami Beach a family-friendly destination?
Miami is safe, especially along the beachfront and in well-traveled areas. Petty crime isn’t unheard of, but isn’t particularly common. Exercise the same cautions you’d employ anywhere else.
While Miami Beach is known for its upscale nightlife and party vibe (as opposed to family beach vacations), this is largely limited to South Beach and easily avoided during the day. There are museums, parks and other attractions for children, and many hotels in Miami Beach feature kids’ clubs and amenities. It’s worth noting that Miami Beach doesn’t make the cut for affordable Spring Break vacations for families. Spring Break usually draws a rowdy crowd and drives rates up.
How far is Miami airport to the beach?
It takes around 35 minutes to get from Miami International Airport (MIA) to Mid-Beach or South Beach. Visiting North Beach may add an additional five to 15 minutes. Some Miami Beach hotels offer airport transfers. Your Fora Advisor can help arrange any and all transportation.
How many days do you need in Miami?

Image courtesy of The Setai, Miami Beach
Four to five days allows you to enjoy the city's beaches and nightlife, explore cultural districts like Little Havana and Wynwood and visit attractions such as the Art Deco Historic District. This time frame still gives you plenty of time to unwind (and/or live it up) and take a day trip to places like the Everglades, one of the best places to visit in Florida.
Can you get around Miami Beach without a car?
Generally, yes. South Beach and pockets of Mid-Beach are easily walkable, and there’s a free trolley that will take you to various points around the city. Rideshare services and taxis are readily available, too. If you’re staying in North Beach, renting a car is the way to go, particularly if you’re interested in day trips to other Florida destinations.
How much does it cost to stay in Miami Beach? What months have the best rates?
Mid-range to luxury hotel rates in Miami Beach start at around $500 per night. You can often find more approachable rates away from the waterfront. Peak travel season begins in mid-to-late December, running through Spring Break into late April. Late spring through the end of fall typically see the best rates (outside of major events).
