Mexico is a top destination for families, and its best all-inclusive resorts simplify travel by including everything you could need — adventure, dining, relaxation — into a single package. Whether bordering the Caribbean or the Pacific, these resorts cater to every age group. We asked a dozen Fora travel advisors to pick their favorite all-inclusive family resorts in Mexico, and they delivered 13 excellent resorts split between Cancún and the Riviera Maya on Mexico’s Caribbean coast, as well as Los Cabos and the greater Puerto Vallarta area on the country’s Pacific coast.
“When it comes to family vacations, Mexico is in a league of its own: sun-drenched beaches, endless activities and resorts that cater to every age — all with a splash of culture and adventure,” Fora X Advisor Seasen Acevedo-Zullo said.
Cancún and the Riviera Maya
Cancún is arguably Mexico’s most famous destination, and hosts the largest variety of all-inclusive resorts — family-friendly and otherwise (there’s also a buzzing nightlife scene). The beautiful Riviera Maya occupies the Caribbean coastline south of Cancún, and is often seen as an extension of the former. However, in recent years, the riviera has begun to carve out an identity of its own, with a slower, more nature-focused vibe that may be more appealing to families. Both areas offer access to Mayan ruins.
Grand Velas Riviera Maya

There are three Grand Velas resorts across Mexico, all offering an élite caliber of service, accommodations and amenities. The Riviera Maya location isn’t necessarily better than Grand Velas’ other locations (both featured below), but it did earn the most mentions from the Fora Advisors we polled.
“Imagine a place where parents can indulge in spa treatments that feel like pure poetry while kids enjoy supervised adventures tailored to their interests. That’s the magic of Grand Velas Riviera Maya,” Seasen said. “This resort redefines the all-inclusive experience with gourmet dining — we’re talking multi-course tasting menus by internationally acclaimed chefs — spacious family suites and service that feels like it was designed just for you.”
The resort is set within the Riviera Maya jungle near cenotes, subterranean, lake-like bodies of water formed from ancient sinkholes, often lined with vines and other plants. Staying here allows you to see these formations up close. You can also enjoy the resort’s expansive private, white-sand beach.
“The Grand Velas is a fantastic choice for families seeking a luxurious all-inclusive vacation,” Fora Advisor Sophie Gutman said. “With its dedicated kids' and teens' clubs, spacious family suites, gourmet dining options and impeccable service, this resort offers a memorable experience for all ages.”
Fora Perks include a $50 daily spa credit per adult, a complimentary hydrotherapy water journey, an upgrade and extended check-in/out whenever possible.
Hotel Xcaret Mexico

Hotel Xcaret Mexico combines sustainable, understated luxury with adventures in the Riviera Maya jungle. Its All-Fun Inclusive package provides unlimited access to Xcaret’s eco-parks, where families can explore caves, cenotes and ancient Mayan ruins. Spacious family suites, diverse dining options and kid-friendly pools offer respite when you’re not venturing through the wild.
“Hotel Xcaret is an excellent choice for an all-inclusive getaway in Mexico,” Fora Advisor Mariela Reyes said. “The Xcaret parks are a fantastic option for active families or those seeking a vacation beyond just lounging by the beach or pool.” She added, “as a proudly Mexican-owned property, Hotel Xcaret beautifully showcases the country’s culture and authenticity.”
Family-friendly activities include ziplining through jungle canopies, exploring caves and cenotes, kayaking down a lazy river and more.
“For families who want to blend resort luxury with adventure, Hotel Xcaret is a game-changer,” Seasen said. “This all-inclusive resort isn’t just a place to stay — it’s a gateway to some of Mexico’s most thrilling attractions.”
Fora Perks at Hotel Xcaret Mexico include complimentary air and concierge services.
Hyatt Ziva Cancun

Hyatt Ziva Cancun is at the very tip of the Cancún peninsula in the city’s Hotel Zone. Expect upscale offerings but a casual vibe that meshes well with a family trip. The area it inhabits is notably traveler-focused, but if you’re looking for a self-contained experience where everything you want to do is in one place, it’s a great choice with options catering to a variety of budgets.
“This all-inclusive is ideal for a family vacation,” Fora Advisor Gail Collins said. “There is nightly family entertainment and a magnificent kids waterpark for slipping and sliding!”
Fora’s Hyatt Privé partner perks include a $100 resort credit, a welcome amenity, a room upgrade and extended check-in/out whenever possible.
SLS Playa Mujeres

Playa Mujeres is an exclusive area just north of Cancún proper, offering a quieter vibe than what you’ll find in Cancún’s hotel zone. SLS Playa Mujeres is one of the area’s newer resorts, and has an intimate, upscale feel. Adults will enjoy a massive spa and dedicated areas, while kids can enjoy all sorts of activities — like a Mayan sandcastle class or DJ workshops — in age-separated groups. There’s also a mini water park, optional professional childcare and family-oriented events like movie nights.
“SLS Playa Mujeres is a luxurious all-inclusive resort that offers a stylish and sophisticated experience with family-friendly amenities,” Fora X Advisor Timadge Berkhadley said. “Families seeking a high-end vacation with a focus on luxury and contemporary style, while still enjoying dedicated children's programs, will find SLS Playa Mujeres excellent.”
Fora’s Accor Preferred by HERA partner perks include a $100 resort credit, an upgrade and extended check-in/out whenever possible.
Moon Palace The Grand-Cancun

Moon Palace The Grand is a luxurious and sprawling resort with plenty of entertainment for families. Kids will love the on-site water park, The Playroom — which has neon-lit mini golf, bumper cars, a three-story playground and more — plus a traditional arcade and gaming lounge. And adults can unwind at the spa or enjoy championship golf courses. There’s also a wide range of dining options, family-friendly suites, a full fitness center, a coffee and chocolate tasting bar and more.
“Moon Palace The Grand Cancun is a great choice for families, offering a wealth of amenities designed to entertain guests of all ages,” Timadge said. “Extensive kids' clubs with age-appropriate activities keep children engaged while parents relax. Spacious suites with connecting rooms and family-friendly features provide comfortable accommodations.”
Fora Perks include complimentary air and concierge services.
Finest Playa Mujeres

Finest Playa Mujeres is designed with families in mind, with spacious suites and private plunge pools, plus exclusive kid-friendly areas. There’s a kids’ club, baby concierge and multiple family pool areas. And parents can enjoy a luxe, adults-only section. Opt for Club-tier rooms or suites for access to additional amenities, including a dedicated lounge, a private beach and pools, an exclusive seaside restaurant and a complimentary hydrotherapy session per guest (children 13 and up can enjoy this treatment, too).
“Finest Playa Mujeres is one of my go-to's for family-friendly all-inclusive Mexico,” Fora X Advisor Danielle Fisher said. “Finest's baby amenities and services makes these resorts a no-brainer for those hesitant to travel with babies or toddlers, and you don't have to pack so much of the gear and supplies that you typically would require on vacation because they have everything!”
Fora Advisor Erica Gould, who has stayed here almost 10 times, agreed, adding, “a small footprint makes it easy to navigate, and allows older kids and teens freedom to explore on their own.”
Club Med Cancún

Club Med, back in the hotel zone, is a dynamic resort with family-focused activities, such as trapeze lessons, snorkeling and beach games, as well as wellness classes for adults. It’s located near Punta Nizuc, home to beautiful coral reefs. Enjoy glass-bottom boat tours or snorkel up close with tropical marine animals.
“Club Med specializes in family-oriented fun, and the Cancún resort is no exception,” Fora X Advisor Ronit Margolis said. “With activities ranging from water sports to cultural excursions, there's never a dull moment.
“While many family-friendly resorts have a kids’ club that starts around age four, Club Med Cancún has Baby Club Med, specifically designed for babies aged 4–23 months,” Fora Advisor Carlie Lee said, noting that most resorts don’t accommodate children this young. Even better, Club Med has complimentary strollers to borrow.
Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya

Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya blends the brand’s musical focus with an all-inclusive experience. Highlights include the Music Lab, where you can learn to play instruments and record a song, and the kid-friendly Rockaway Bay water park.
“Themed suites, an extensive kids' program and endless entertainment make this vibrant resort perfect for music-loving families,” Ronit said. “And parents can enjoy the adults-only Heaven section when they want a break.”
Los Cabos
Los Cabos — especially Cabo San Lucas — rivals Cancún as one of the best locations to enjoy all-inclusive family resorts in Mexico. The area is located at the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula, where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez, and boasts golden beaches, rugged cliffs and the iconic El Arco rock formation. Along the western shores of Los Cabos, Cabo San Lucas hosts a vibrant nightlife scene and marina. To the east, charming San José del Cabo hosts old colonial architecture and an artful vibe.
Grand Velas Los Cabos

Grand Velas Los Cabos mirrors its sister resort in Cancún in many ways. Expect a similar degree of luxe accommodations, amenities and service. Its prime location halfway between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo provides access to activities like whale watching and desert excursions. Plus, there are multiple pools and plenty of on-site activities (snorkeling, painting classes, instructor-led yoga).
“Grand Velas Los Cabos is the winner here hands down!” Fora Advisor Jessica Woods said. “They have considered everything when it comes to family travel and made it as seamless as possible. From picky eaters to the always bored teen, Grand Velas has created a resort experience that ensures everyone in the family is happy, entertained and well fed!”
Like many top-tier resorts in Mexico, there are areas for parents to unwind sans children, who can enjoy age-appropriate clubs and curated activities.
Grand Velas Los Cabos offers an additional perk if you book your stay with a Fora Advisors. Parents can enjoy a $100 spa credit toward couples' experiences (go for a massage).
Fora Perks include a $50 daily spa credit per adult, a $100 credit on romantic experiences menu, a complimentary hydrotherapy water journey, an upgrade and extended check-in/out whenever possible.
Garza Blanca Resort & Spa Los Cabos

Garza Blanca is one of our top picks for Cabo San Lucas all-inclusive resorts. It’s stylish, contemporary and intimate. But with approachable rates, it’s also a great option for families. Multi-bedroom suites, many with fully equipped kitchens and private terraces, provide a homey but luxurious base.
“The rooms are very spacious with ample outdoor space and amazing views,” Fora X Advisor Ariann Bernstein said.
There are kids’ clubs, plenty of on-site activities and a high-end spa for adults. What makes Garza Blanca particularly special is its innovative dining options, including family-friendly gourmet experiences — sushi, elevated takes on Baja cuisine, a raw seafood bar — and unique culinary events.
Fora Perks include complimentary air and concierge services.
Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos

Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos sits along Playa Hotelera in the hotel zone of San José del Cabo. But unlike its sibling in Cancún, this property has the benefit of being located just outside San José del Cabo’s Centro district, where colorful ribbons hang atop streets lined with indie boutiques, souvenir shops, small cafés and art galleries. If your family is interested in exploring beyond the resort, you will likely prefer this location. Otherwise, the resort has many of the same amenities and identical perks.
“With a splash park, kids' and teens' clubs and several dining options, Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos ideal for multi-generational travel,” Ronit said.
Fora’s Hyatt Privé partner perks include a $100 resort credit, a welcome amenity, a room upgrade and extended check-in/out whenever possible.
Puerto Vallarta and the Riviera Nayarit
The greater Puerto Vallarta area, which also includes the Riviera Nayarit and Punta Mita, doesn’t have the same kind of name recognition as Cancún or Cabo San Lucas — yet — but this is changing. Puerto Vallarta is an exceptional destination for families, offering natural beauty, a plethora of cultural experiences and family-friendly activities across its resorts and towns. Things to do in Puerto Vallarta include visiting the vibrant Malecón boardwalk, where you’ll find street performers, art installations and local treats and souvenirs. Families can explore lush jungles through ziplining and eco-tours. Also don’t miss the cobblestone streets and colorful markets of Puerto Vallarta’s charming Old Town. And unlike Los Cabos, the beaches here are largely swimmable.
There are fewer hotels in Puerto Vallarta and its surrounding areas than Cabo or Cancún. But you’ll still find plenty of family-friendly resorts here.
Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit

Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit, which overlooks Banderas Bay, lives up to the brand’s pedigree. Its location near Puerto Vallarta grants access to local attractions, including jungle tours and Indigenous cultural experiences. You’ll also love the resort’s excellent service, serene beachfront setting and on-site activities for all ages.
“Grand Velas is top tier for a luxurious family vacation, as they truly have something for everyone,” Fora X Advisor A'Rielle Thomas said. “For the smallest VIPs, they have a baby concierge team that outfits your suite (all rooms are suites!) with everything you need — cribs, bottle warmers, plush toys — you name it.”
The pampering extends to older children, too. The kids’ and teens’ club are “actually cool,” A’Rielle said. There are boardgames, dance lessons, an arcade.
“While the kids are entertaining themselves, the adults fully rejuvenate at the spa with a complimentary hydrotherapy session,” A’Rielle added. “Lastly, the dining is impeccable, and they even boast a Michelin-Star-rated dining experience.”
Fora Perks include a $50 daily spa credit per adult, a $50 resort credit, a complimentary hydrotherapy water journey, an upgrade and extended check-in/out whenever possible.
Bonus: Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita

Image courtesy of Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita
Four Seasons Resort Punta Pita isn’t an all-inclusive resort, but it’s worth mentioning as an excellent alternative for families. The service and accommodations are bar-none, and the suite of activities goes far beyond your typical all-inclusive resort: deep-sea fishing voyages (underwater and by boat), catamaran cruises, offroading tours. You can also enjoy access to a mini water park with a lazy river, a variety of kids’ games and beach activities, like paddle boarding. The resort also has two seaside Jack Nicklaus-designed golf courses, spa treatments for adults and kids, infinity pools and beachfront dining that focuses on local Baja cuisine.
For something adults-only, consider Naviva, A Four Seasons Resort in nearby Punta Mita. There are a little over a dozen luxury tents spread out across 48 acres of dense jungle for an intimate, wellness-focused experience.
When you book Four Seasons with Fora, you’ll enjoy exclusive Four Seasons Preferred Partner benefits.
All-inclusive family resorts in Mexico: FAQs
Read on for more information about family trips to Mexico.
Is Mexico safe for family vacations?
Resort areas in Mexico, including all those mentioned above, are indeed safe for travelers. Petty crime does occur outside of the resorts, though, so it's wise to exercise caution.
Which part of Mexico is best for all-inclusive family vacations? Which coast is best?

Family-friendly all-inclusive resorts on the Pacific, Gulf and Caribbean coasts offer similar experiences and accommodations. Which is best often comes down to personal preference; however, logistics will favor one location over another. For example, if you’re living on the US West Coast, you’ll likely find more affordable flights to Cancún versus Puerto Vallarta or Cabo.
Should I consider non-all-inclusive resorts in Mexico for my family vacation?
Certainly. All-inclusive resorts remove a lot of hassle — you don’t have to figure out meals and even many activities — but they can discourage you from venturing out of your comfort zone and into nearby towns and other sites where you’re more likely to find authentic experiences and hidden gems. You’ll also find that not all destinations in Mexico even offer all-inclusive resorts. If you’re interested in visiting Ciudad Mexico (a.k.a. CDMX), for example, you’re better off looking for traditional hotels.
Additionally, it’s possible to find better value by staying at a traditional hotel — like hotels under $500 in the Riviera Maya — and paying à la carte for your meals and experiences. Ultimately, your travel preferences will determine which option offers the better deal. (This is another area where your Fora Advisor is invaluable.)
