Club 1897 Platinum FAQs

Kempinski is owned by a select few shareholders. Today, Bernold Schroeder acts as the company’s CEO and Chairman of the Management Board.

Berthold Kempinski, a wine merchant, built a lively Berlin restaurant in the late 19th century. The restaurant quickly grew into a vibrant meeting place, and the business soon expanded into other experiential domains such as cinema. In 1952, Kempinksi’s grandson, Dr. Friedrich Unger, transformed the restaurant into a luxury hotel.

Travelers can stay at Kempinski hotels in numerous stunning locales around the world, including Europe, Africa, China, Indonesia, the Caribbean and the Middle East.
