Curator’s statement
Utah and its national parks make for an incredible landscape filled with adventure. It is the the perfect escape for a girlfriend getaway, especially when you combine Zion National Park with Amangiri spa and resort. We enjoyed a little glamping at Autocamp Zion with a lot of luxury at Amangiri and threw in some Vegas because why not!

Day 1: Arrival and glamping
We all were coming from various areas in the country and met up at the Las Vegas airport. We rented a car for the next six days of adventure. We headed out to Autocamp Zion National Park. The lodging is located about 30 min outside of Zion. For a couple of nights, it was a cute, authentic feel for an outdoor adventure. We all stayed in airstreams that were well-equipped with AC/Heat, hair dryers, basic cooking supplies and comfy queen beds. Their camp restaurant had some basic food offerings for those who did not want to grill or head to town for dinner. Each airstream had its own fire pit area with comfy chairs.
Day 2: Hiking and biking
We had a filling breakfast at the camp and headed out to hike on our own before meeting up with our guides from Ride Zion for an incredible e-bike tour through Zion in the afternoon. November is an incredible month to visit Zion. Yes, we hit a cold front but overall crowds were minimal and we had an amazing time. Layers are key and it definitely beats the summer and early fall heat. On a separate note, although I have hiked the Narrows before, I thought it would be too cold for my crew. I was wrong. With the right gear, it is not an issue.
Day 3: Canyons and spa
Up in the morning to enjoy a beautiful drive through Zion National Park. Every turn and tunnel was just incredible. It is so hard to believe the landscape differences in our country. We arrived in Orderville, East of Zion to enjoy a slot canyon hike and off-roading adventure with east Zion Adventures. What an amazing way to spend the early afternoon. Our guides were incredible and the pictures they took of us, even better. The two days of hiking and biking were a great intro to Zion.
And then on to Amangiri spa and resort for three nights of relaxation, food and of course, more adventure. It’s hard to describe Amangiri. The resort melts into the landscape. Its elegant, minimal design is welcoming and modern.
Day 4: Luxe relaxation
Sunrise over the rocks and mountains creates this mystical glow on the rocks. It feels incredibly surreal.
Spa day! We all enjoyed various treatments and relaxation at Amangiri. I would say the massage was in my top five ever (I try to indulge in a massage at a new location every time!)
Romance was not on the list as this was a group of friends, but we couldn’t resist the outdoor fireplace to further relax after our treatments. While we met several groups of friends and extended families, romance here is next level if that is what you are looking for. You can find secluded hot tubs, fire pits in each room, candles in the bathtubs. They do it right.
Finally, we finished the night off with a five-course meal at Sarika Camp, part of Amangiri’s private villa area. The food just kept coming and it was delicious.
Day 5: Climbing adventure
Time to conquer our fears! We are signed up for the Hoodoo via ferrata climb and suspension bridge hike. I was really wondering what I signed us up to do being that all of us have a healthy fear of heights. Not only did we conquer this fear but we crushed it. This activity was one of my favorite things to do. We were rock climbing and rappelling and still managed to feel safe. I am ready to find my next via Ferrata to conquer. (If we had more time, Amangiri actually has 3 different climbing options that can be done.)
Day 6: Vegas farewell
Sad to leave, but alas, we must move on...to Vegas, that is.
One last night and of course we ate, drank and went to the Sphere before our morning flights out. None of us are gamblers or smokers, so we stayed at the beautiful Four Seasons resort for what felt like an oasis of calm in the craziness Vegas offers. Til the next girls trip...
