Things to do in Santorini

A beautiful view of the white buildings of Santorini nestled into a mountain, highlighting small swimming pools, lights and rugged mountain terrain.

Watch the Sunset in Oia: This experience has almost become a rite of passage for travelers to Santorni. The key is to avoid the throngs of tourists by getting off the main path in Oia or getting a coveted restaurant table with a view.

Hike the Path Between Fira and Oia: This scenic hike along the cliffside path connecting Fira and Oia provides stunning views for miles.

Kamari Beach: Explore the unique black sand beach of Kamari, located about 4 miles southeast of Fira.

Amoudi Bay: Hike down to Amoudi Bay, a picturesque fishing village below Oia. You can take a swim, dine at Amoudi Bay Fish Taverna on the waterfront and admire the colorful fishing boats.

Wander the streets of Oia, Fira and Pyrgos: Explore the charming streets of these three towns. Discover white-washed buildings, blue-domed churches, boutique shops and local cafes. Each corner holds a postcard-worthy view.

Take a Winery Tour: Santorini has a long tradition of winemaking and its unique volcanic soil produces exceptional wines.

Explore Ancient Akrotiri: Unearth the ancient ruins of Akrotiri, once buried in ash from a volcanic eruption.

Take a Day or Sunset Sail: Board a private or small group catamaran to explore volcanic hot springs, black beaches and enjoy a new vantage point.

Places to eat & drink in Santorini

Fine dining dinner options abound in Santorini. Reservations are key, especially at restaurants like Pacman that serve up epic sunset views with music and meditative yoga displays to match.

If romance with a view is what you seek, a table on the railing at Red Bicycle has your number.

Although it doesn’t have a view, Selene in Fira attracts foodies from all over the globe. Michelin-starred chef Ettore Botrini took over the restaurant, which is located in a former monastery that's now the Katikies Garden Hotel.

After dinner, enjoy a walk through the labyrinth paths of Oia and enjoy a nightcap at the understated Meteor Bar.
