Curator’s statement

Chances are you have heard of Il Pellicano or seen the tote bags in the shoulders of some of the most well traveled. For over 50 years, Il Pellicano has attracted socialites, movie stars and royalty to its cliffside Tuscan resort. Inspired by the photographs of Slim Aarons, I wanted to see the magic and experience it for myself. We planned our mini honeymoon around our stay in this resort but we also wanted to visit the vineyards of some of our favorite wines.

Things to do in Italy

Pathway between trees

Enjoy the resort

Lounge around the iconic beach all day and soak in the magical view at Il Pellicano's Beach Club. Browse and shop the hotel's boutique stocked with well curated summer wardrobe staples. For those who want to stay active, the hotel has a small, well equipped fitness center and a tennis court.

Boat Trips

Italy’s Argentario Coast is glitteringly gorgeous. Take the hotel's boat to the picturesque village with narrow streets and little shops, bars and restaurants.

Wine tasting in Montalcino

An hour and a half drive away from the resort is the hill town of Montalcino, famous for its prestigious wine Brunello. Book wine tasting tours at Altesino, Stella di Campalto and Argiano.

Wine tasting in Bolgheri

Bolgheri is in the Maremma region and is known mainly for the deeply coloured, supple yet ageworthy red wines also known as the Super Tuscans. As you approach the town, you will be welcomed by the pretty sight of Bolgheri’s Castle, Castello della Gherardesca. Lunch at Osteria Enoteca San Guido, the closest you can get to doing a tasting of the famed Sassicaia wine. Book a wine tasting and tour at the art filled, Ornellaia.
