Things to do in Burlington, Vermont

Echo Leahy Center for Lake Champlain: A family-friendly museum that teaches you all about the ecology of Lake Champlain. There are lots of interactive exhibits and a great gift shop!
Burlington Farmer's Market: Every Saturday morning from late spring to autumn in downtown Burlington on Pine Street, you can find quality produce from local farmers. The market also features housewares, jewelry, art and other goods.
Waterfront Park: Take the wide pedestrian walkways and bikeways along the lake. Make your way to the scenic viewing points in Waterfront Park to watch the sunset, or enjoy the wildlife. Feeling adventurous? Hop on a sailboat for some sailing lessons, or take out a kayak.
Shopping at The Soda Plant: A converted industrial space, this location offers local businesses a storefront and convenient shopping location for visitors. You can grab a pastry and a coffee and check out the 30+ shops and see some lovely art from local artisans.
Shelburne Farms: A non-profit organization that focuses on educating the community and supporting the working farm. It has beautiful grounds to explore or take part in one of their classes and programs.
Ben & Jerry's in Waterbury: Head east on Highway 89 just over 25 miles to visit the Ben & Jerry's factory. You can also have an informative and fun tour while seeing live ice cream production! Be sure to get your scoop or cone and walk over to the flavor graveyard for memories of past tastes.
Thundering Brook Falls: Go a bit further South and you'll find a perfect hidden waterfall just down a 10-minute trail. It starts as a wooden plank trail across a lush, marshy area, and then you are transported into a fairy-tale forest leading up to the beautiful, roaring falls. It's worth the drive, a true hidden gem!
Green Mountain National Forest: A trip to Vermont would be remiss to not stop by the national forest. Hikes range from easy to difficult, but the views are spectacular in every season.
Places to eat & drink in Burlington, Vermont

August First Bakery: Expect a line at this hot bakery and cafe! But don't worry, it goes quickly and you don't want to miss the menu staple: hand-mixed maple biscuits.
Hen of the Wood: A relaxed farm-to-table spot that has a rotating menu and showcases the region's seasonal produce.
Original Skiff Fish + Oysters: Excellent service and delectable fish combine for a stellar evening at this restaurant housed at the Hotel Champlain Burlington.
Juniper Bar & Restaurant: Inside Hotel Vermont, the cocktails here are incredible. Enjoy a drink on the screened in patio, or sit down for a lovely meal.
Honey Road: Craft cocktails and unique desserts are truly all I ever want out of any food establishment, and Honey Road knocks it out of the park in these areas.
The Gryphon: 19th-century vibes remain at this American restaurant serving up a delicious order of seafood grits. Tons of local beers available in cans and bottles with some rotating draft selections.
Waterworks Food + Drink: The food is great, but come here for the views. Right off the river in Winooski, you can sit in the glassed in area to enjoy the rushing water while you eat.
Misery Loves Co.: Don't miss the $5 mimosas on Saturday for brunch at this local market. It has great food and a shop to find cute gifts and souvenirs for all the people who didn't get to come with you to Vermont.
