Curator’s statement

Over Memorial Day weekend, I drove from Tampa, Florida to Miami, Florida for a long weekend beach getaway. The Fontainebleau is a grand and historic hotel located on Miami Beach. It offers pools, restaurants and plenty of amenities, allowing you to enjoy a full three-day weekend without having to leave the property grounds!

Day 1: Check Into the Fontainebleau

Whether flying or driving to Miami, it's best to arrive early in the afternoon to make the most of your hotel experience. By booking through Fora, we were able to check in early and also received a room upgrade to a one-bedroom suite. Once checked in and luggage dropped off, you can spend the afternoon relaxing at one of the hotel's many pools. Your stay includes chairs, umbrellas and towels, or you can reserve a cabana for added comfort. There are poolside servers available to take your orders, and you can have drinks and snacks delivered directly to your chair. Additionally, there's a restaurant, La Cote, located at the pool, offering a diverse menu for lunch and dinner.

Day 2: Miami Beach

Start your day early with sunrise yoga on the beach, which is included in your stay. If yoga isn't your thing, you can work out at Fontainebleau's top-notch gym instead. After your active morning, make your way to the on-site cafe, Chez Bon Bon, for a coffee and a French pastry. Their assortment of skillfully made croissants, danishes and more are sure to have something to suit everyone's taste. You can enjoy your breakfast in the magnificent hotel lobby, or take it to-go and stroll along the paved path by the beach. Spend the rest of the day relaxing on the beach, which is equipped with chairs, umbrellas and daybeds, as well as servers to take drink and food orders. You can swim in the beautiful waters of the Atlantic, search for seashells in the sand or simply bask in the sun with a good book. For dinner, you can try one of the many restaurants on site – there are numerous options with a wide range of cuisines. If you're in the mood for some fun, head to LIV, the on-site club that guarantees music and dancing all night.

Day 3: Shopping & Spa Day

On your last morning, start your day with breakfast at Vida, one of the hotel's restaurants. After breakfast, treat yourself to a relaxing massage or facial at the Lapis Spa. You can also do a little shopping at one of the Fontainebleau's shops – from fine jewelry to branded hats. Because we booked through Fora, we were able to arrange a late check-out, allowing us ample time to make the most of the hotel's amenities before our departure.
