Curator’s statement

Thinking about attending the 2026 World Cup? The 2026 World Cup will be hosted by three countries, Canada, Mexico, and the United States, and fifteen cities. It’s been 32 years since the World Cup was hosted in North America. It may be another 32 years or more before it comes back again. It was a historic moment in 1994, the United States Men’s National Team (USMNT), advanced to the round of 16 for the first time since 1930. I still remember the day, it was July 4th and Brazil scored in the 74th minute. It was heartbreaking but it was a beginning to new life with soccer in the US. It’s never too late too late to start planning now.

How do you get tickets to the World Cup 2026?

Tickets to the World Cup 2026 are not yet available, tickets will be available through various channels, including a lottery system. People interested in these tickets will be able to register online, and names for tickets will be chosen at random. If your name gets chosen, you must wait online again, refreshing your phone to then maybe get a chance to purchase tickets. It’s like waiting online to get Taylor Swift tickets. There are no guarantees. Then you may not even get the exact game that you want for the World Cup. You will be competing against millions of fans worldwide for tickets.

What are the alternative guaranteed tickets? That is where a travel advisor like me can help. A travel advisor has access to suppliers that specialize in getting tickets and planning an entire trip for you. Let’s say you wanted to see the best player in the world right now, Kylian Mbappe, but France is playing in Mexico City. A way to guarantee a ticket is through a travel advisor that specializes in major sports events and bucket list items.

There are other ways like 3rd party ticket brokers, but again you will be online trying to figure things out yourself.

Transportation and getting to a 2026 World Cup Game

One of the major things to consider is getting to and from a stadium for a match. While most of these are in major cities, some stadiums are located outside of the city in the suburbs. There may not be public transportation options. An easy way to make this stress-free is to hire transportation. Purchasing tickets with a 2026 World Cup package can include transportation to games for your comfort. The last thing you want to do is cram into a subway on a hot July night.

Hotel and Accommodations for 2026 World Cup

So, you have your tickets, now what? You’ll need to book a hotel. Hotels will book up fast and you want to make sure you are comfortable during your trip to see the 2026 World Cup. You don’t want to end up sleeping in an air-conditioned shipping container or cruise ship like in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Do not worry, that will not happen in 2026, it was due to Qatar being a smaller country and using those options for hotels. Purchasing a package will provide you with a luxury hotel.

The Ultimate Plan - 2026 World Cup Finals

The ultimate plan, if you love soccer, then you may want to catch a game in each of the final rounds:

  • Start with the quarterfinals of the 2025 World Cup (Boston, Los Angeles, Maimi, Kansas City)

  • Head home, get some rest.

  • Head out to the semifinals (Dallas and Atlanta), wait 2-3 days or head to the finals in New York.

  • Head to Finals (New York)

You can create an itinerary to go through each stage to follow your country. Spending a few days in Dallas, Atlanta or New York is not a bad idea. These cities are major hubs and can easily be accessed by a flight in less than four hours (except when flying across the country).

If you are a super fan, I can help with customizing an entire trip so you can catch a game in each round.

Day Trips:

The host cities are great cities and there will be plenty of activities depending on which city you decide to attend. I am happy to provide recommendations upon request.
