Things to do in Tulum

Rent a Scooter and Explore the Cenotes:

A scooter is the superior mode of transportation in Tulum (in my opinion) and an adventure in itself. Have your hotel secure a rental or find a few along the main road. Cenotes are natural sinkholes, formed over thousands of years, that you can swim in and they are everywhere in Tulum, with over 100 in the area.

Begin your adventure at Cenote Encantado, a complete hidden gem. You’ll probably have to yourself if you go early.

From there, journey into Tulum for the best tacos in town at Taqueria Honorio. Next onto Gran Cenote, one of the most famous cenotes in the area and Cenote Calavera where you’ll jump off a cliff to enter the water.

Cave Diving:

If you’re a diver, cave diving in the cenotes is an incredibly unique experience. Gran Cenote is a great spot for cave diving as it’s connected to one of the largest underwater cave systems in the world.

Relax (or party) at a Cenote Day Club:

Spend part of the day at Vesica Cenote Sanctuary. This day club style community space surrounds a private cenote. It offers a robust menu of wellness services, gourmet food and sensory experiences.

Pro tip - looking for relaxation? Arrive when they open, you’ll have it to yourself. Looking for a party? The DJ starts at 2:00 PM.

Adventure to Mayan Ruins:

Journey back in time to an ancient civilization and spend some time exploring the Mayan ruins. Whether you’re a history lover, nature enthusiast or just love incredible views, they're sure to leave a lasting impression.

Explore All of the Water:

A beach day is a must with the most perfect, crystal clear water calling your name. Post up on a plush daybed and soak in the sun. My favorite spot for this is at La Valise. Exclusive to guests, there are just enough day beds for those staying there and with only a handful of rooms it feels luxurious and private.

Create some variety by spending some time poolside in their new addition tucked back into the jungle, or head over to their sister property Radhoo for the largest pool in the area.

Places to eat & drink in Tulum

Tulum Hotel Area:

Nu - A truly inspired journey through the Mexican and Mayan flavors of the area. Expect elevated and unique dishes, an intentionally designed cocktail program and a vibey ambiance.

Kitchen Table - The energy of an open kitchen welcomes you with a view of the chefs at work. Start with the bread (trust me) and let the servers be your guide. The flavors of both food and cocktails will keep this place on your mind for months to come.

In Tulum City:

Taqueria Hornorio - A local told us these were the best in town, and I’m inclined to believe him. Stop here for a no frills, more traditional spot with insanely delicious tacos.

El Camello Jr - Another insider secret and you’ll come here for the ceviche. Be warned, it's a popular spot so there may be a wait but that tangy plate of seafood and crunchy tortilla chips with a cold beer, heaven.

Burrito Amor - A contemporary Mexican, cool and delicious spot focused on healthy options and clean eating. A superfood-packed menu offers paleo, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options.
