Curator’s statement
Located between the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, St. Kitts and Nevis is a dual-island nation quite different from the surrounding islands. As a result, it is perhaps one of the most diverse Caribbean islands for exploration featuring an array of terrain from mountains to volcanoes, beaches and more. From hiking to swimming and exploring the small towns on the island, St. Kitts is the perfect example of hippie-island-living and an excellent destination for a getaway into nature’s best.

Things to do in Saint Kitts and Nevis
Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park
The Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a remarkable example of European military engineering dating from the 17th and 18th centuries in the Caribbean. Designed by the British and built by African slave labor, the fortress is testimony to European colonial expansion, the African slave trade and the emergence of new societies in the Caribbean.
Caribelle Batik at Romney Manor
The ancient art of wax-resist dyeing reaches a whole new level at Caribelle Batik, located at Romney Manor. Here you can watch artists as they boil hues, apply wax and dye fabrics, creating the brightly colored, intricately patterned clothing that’s typical of St. Kitts. After witnessing the process, browse the wide selection of wraps, dresses, men’s shirts, bandanas, bags, wall hangings, and more among the most desired products in the Caribbean.
Scuba Diving
St. Kitts is a popular diving destination for its warm waters, the many shipwrecks to explore, and vibrant coral and sea life! It is an excellent spot to practice your scuba diving skills or even get your license here.
Cockleshell Beach
This public beach in St. Kitts features tons of places for food and drinks, a floating waterpark, motorized water sports and fantastic views of Nevis (the other of the two islands.)
South Friars Bay
Head out to this beautiful beach for sunsets, snorkeling and monkeys. What else would you want anyway?
Dune Buggy
Go off-roading on the southern part of the island with lots of amazing views.
Hike Mount Liamuiga
Mount Liamuiga is an inactive volcano, and once at the top, you will have the most amazing views of St. Kitts. This hike is about 3 hours, climbing over 2,000 feet in elevation.
Saint Kitts and Nevis Day Trip
Take a catamaran or ferry over to Nevis for the day. Hang out on the beach or explore the island. Whatever you do, don't miss stopping by Sunshine's Beach Bar & Grill for their famous rum punch, The Killer Bee.
Eat & drink in Saint Kitts and Nevis
Cathy's Ocean View Bar & Grill: Delicious Caribbean food, ribs and jerk chicken served alfresco directly on the beach. What could be better?
Mr. X's Shiggidy Shack: This place is known for its Thursday-night bonfire parties with fire-eaters, beach seating and a delicious menu.
Spice Mill on Cockleshell Beach: This is one of the best spots on the island, with a view of Nevis across the water. There is a floating water park for the kids and plenty of beach space for relaxing and water activities for those who want to stay active. Spice Mill also has an excellent menu for lunch and dinner.
Shipwreck Beach Bar: A local-favorite beach location for small bites and drinks. They also have a lovely beach (with black and golden sand) perfect for swimming and snorkeling around the floating deck or watching the monkeys play in the trees.
Spratnet: Serving fresh-caught lobsters every day, grilled to perfection (they also have chicken and ribs for the non-seafood fans). Sometimes you will show up on a night when they have a live band, and the place is bustling with locals.
Bobsy's Superwings: This little stop has the best wings and probably the cheapest meal on the island.
Lemongrass: An open-air restaurant in Basseterre with Asian fusion fare.
