Things to do in Dubai

Afternoon Tea at the Lobby Lounge at Jumeirah Al Qasr Resort offered delicious gluten free options when requested in Advance

Views:

Dubai is well-known for its unique views with multiple skylines, islands, unique architecture and viewpoints.

Burj Khalifa

The world’s tallest structure is a must-do when visiting Dubai. Its height means you can see it from most areas within Dubai, and the views from the top are spectacular. I recommend visiting around sunset so that you can catch 360-degree views of Dubai in the daylight and with the night lights.

Outdoor:

If you visit Dubai in the summer, you’ll be spending most of your time indoors as the temperatures average around 105 degrees Fahrenheit during the day. It cools down substantially at night, which is a great time to visit the desert or enjoy a rooftop drink.

Desert Safari

If you want a taste of the desert along with some authentic experiences while visiting Dubai, I highly recommend booking a Desert Safari. You’ll ride out into the desert around sunset in 4x4s to take in the scenery. They often come with buffet meals, so make sure your advisor mentions your food allergy when booking.

Kite Beach

One of Dubai’s public beaches, Kite Beach offers an amazing view of the Burj Al Arab, smooth sand and a variety of activities and food trucks. If you’re visiting in the cooler season, I recommend grabbing a smoothie from Circle Cafe Kite Beach before enjoying the boardwalk.

Museums:

Dubai is an ultra-modern city and its museums are a great way to learn about both the history and future of the UAE.

Dubai Museum

The best place to learn about the history of the United Arab Emirates, located in a historic fort. This museum is just steps from Dubai Creek and close to the traditional spice souks.

Museum of the Future

This is the newest museum in Dubai and an immersive experience. Note that it can be hard to get into, so I recommend getting tickets well before your trip!

Malls:

You may be surprised to find Malls on a list of recommendations for things to do in Dubai, but the malls in Dubai are some of the most grand in the world and contain some amazing attractions as well as shopping and dining options.

Dubai Mall

Dubai Mall is located in the heart of Downtown Dubai, and if you only go to one mall while visiting Dubai, I would make it this one! It’s right next to the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Fountain, so you can stop at a Dubai Mall café to watch the world’s tallest performing fountain. If you prefer to stay inside, you can check out the Dubai Aquarium, which is a great family-friendly way to spend the afternoon.

Mall of the Emirates

Located just a quick drive from Downtown Dubai, Mall of the Emirates is home to its own unique attraction, indoor winter wonderland in the desert at Ski Dubai!

Dubai Hills Mall

Slightly farther out if you want to adventure, the Dubai Hills Mall is one of the newest malls featuring high-end retail and food but also an indoor Roller Coaster.

Day Trips:

Fujairah

If you’re looking for a quieter place that you can find in Dubai, Fujairah is only a two-hour drive away and will treat you to some gorgeous mountain views along the drive. You can drive out for the day or choose to spend a relaxing night or two at one of the beautiful beach resorts in Fujairah.

Tip: There is some amazing scuba diving in Fujairah! I recommend booking with Al Boom Diving for some of the best diving in the UAE.

Abu Dhabi

Just an hour drive from Dubai, there is even more to see and do in Abu Dhabi. Visit the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, take in arts and culture at the Louvre Abu Dhabi, or kayak in the mangroves on your way back to Dubai. So much can be seen in a one-day tour; reach out to me to book!

Places to eat & drink in Dubai

SushiSamba is the new IT restaurant with a view located on the Palm on the 51st floor of the St. Regis hotel with stunning skyline views and some great looking food

Dubai has some truly amazing dining options; I'm going to highlight a selection that, in my experience, caters very well to Gluten Free travelers.

Breakfast

Better Bakes Gluten Free Bakery & Cafe

This all gluten-free bakery and café serves fresh food and also frozen gluten-free items to take and cook at home! Fresh breads, pastries, cakes, etc.

Tom & Serg

Industrial feel and great food with a labeled menu denoting gluten-free options. They make a great latte!

Jones the Grocer

This regional chain has locations across the Middle East and Asia. They have a pretty big menu serving breakfast, brunch and lunch as well as a variety of juices and beverages, and their menu is well-marked for gluten allergies.

Lime Tree Cafe & Kitchen

This café has several locations around Dubai and has a gluten-free bakery in a certified gluten-free kitchen featuring both sweet and savory baked goods as well as light lunch items.

Lunch & Dinner

Maxzi The Good Food Shop

Local franchise in the UAE, Maxzi offers a variety of healthy food options and also has a good selection of gluten-free foods. Although the menu is not marked, the staff was knowledgeable about cross-contamination.

Above Eleven Dubai

A newcomer to the Dubai rooftop scene, this restaurant is in the Marriott on the Palm. They asked when booking if we had any allergies and they handled my gluten restriction with ease. They have a live DJ several nights a week.

Lola Taberna Espanola

Authentic Spanish menu with tapas and Paella, bring your appetite to Lola Taberna and make sure you try some of their signature sangria. Tell the server about your gluten allergy; the kitchen is well-equipped to avoid cross-contamination.

Drinks

View 180 at NH Collection the Palm

Amazing views of Dubai Marina, and amazing place for a cocktail or to celebrate something special.

Treehouse Dubai

If you really want a view, few can top the views from Treehouse Dubai, set just next to the Burj Khalifa.

Other

Afternoon Tea at Jumeirah Al Qasr

Make sure you make a reservation in advance specifying how many gluten-free guests will be joining for tea and the chef will make an all-gluten-free selection for you.
