Asheville Romantic Getaway
Asheville is 100% a romantic weekend getaway for me, for the simple reason that I will not be driving up any mountains – that’s what my husband is for. We’ve had some of the best stays in Asheville – from beautiful home rentals in the mountains to hotel stays during the Christmas holiday. The gorgeous mountain views are everywhere and it’s easy to swoon in your partner’s arms at the Biltmore or hold hands while driving through the Blue Ridge Parkway. My favorite romantic experience here: Shoji Spa. Imagine a private hot tub for you two, high in the mountains followed by a couple’s massage. Doesn’t get any more romantic than that! Book your stay at the Omni Grove Park Inn & Spa for a luxurious time in the mountains.
Charlotte Romantic Vibes
As a Charleston native, I love Charlotte. It gives big city vibes without overwhelming this Southern Belle, and it’s an easy, three-hour drive for a romantic weekend getaway. The tall buildings and countless rooftop bars create a sultry vibe at night, perfect for sparking romance. One of the buzziest restaurants in the city:
Steak 48 (make reservations in advance).
For an after dinner bite, Crave Dessert Bar has been a long time favorite for decadent desserts in food and drink form.
Staying Uptown at either Omni Charlotte Hotel or Grand Bohemian Hotel Charlotte will have you in the middle of all the action and a quick walk to other bars or restaurants for brunch the next morning.
Savannah, GA
Savannah has become a new favorite of mine because the drive is short and the city has much to offer. It also reminds me so much of Charleston, so maybe that’s why Savannah is so charming to me as a romantic weekend getaway. Perry Lane Hotel is your place to stay in Savannah, because what’s more romantic than complimentary glasses of champagne from the lobby all day? Enjoy a riverboat cruise, have a picnic at one of the many parks or just stroll down River Street and take in the sights and history.
Bonus Entry: Charleston
What’s a “romantic weekend getaway” list without mentioning Charleston!? A staycation is still a ‘cation and Charleston has plenty to offer– even for locals. Incredible dining, beach after beach, and accommodations that are so fancy you’ll forget you’re still in your own city. The Charleston Place is an iconic downtown hotel and you’ll find fine dining and luxury shopping to go along with your stay. And my new local hotel obsessions: Hotel Bennett & The Dewberry Charleston. Staycations are great because you’re able to enjoy something new about the place you live (and have new ideas for all your visiting family and friends who ask what to do in Charleston).
