Things to do in Charleston

The International African American Museum opened in 2023 and should be on your list to add a bit of history to your trip. The Museum tells the stories of some of the enslaved Black people who were brought to the United States. Charleston is a significant site - as an estimated 40% of enslaved Black individuals came through the Charleston Harbor and Gadsden’s Wharf (where the museum sits).

Visit the Historic Charleston City Market for fun local shopping downtown.

Explore fun, instagrammable sites that are easily walkable like: Rainbow Row and the Pineapple Fountain.

Gullah Tours is a Black-owned tour company that will provide historic tours of Charleston and an opportunity to learn about the area's first Black inhabitants.

Is Charleston haunted? We will let you figure that out but taking a local ghost tour is one way to see for sure. Old Charleston Walking Tours is one of many options where you can even take the ghost tour at night if you are brave enough!

When you are ready for nightlife, Charleston has a ton of rooftop bars you and your girls can hit up. Fiat Lux at the Hotel Bennett, Citrus Club at The Dewberry, and Élevé at the Grand Bohemian Hotel Charleston are a few favorites.

Bourbon N' Bubbles is another Charleston hot spot with an impressive cocktail menu and a fun vibe for a night out!
