Day 1: Knightsbridge

A tall building sitting on the side of the road during the evening

Stay in Leicester Square at the Londoner, or if you prefer a little more of a British Flare then Flemings in Mayfair. Stroll through the royal park of St James and visit the Churchill War Rooms (about one hour and 30 minutes). Walk to Buckingham Palace to see if the King is in residence or take in the Changing of the Guard (outside Buckingham Palace every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from 10:45 am and lasts around 45 minutes). Spend the afternoon in Harrods, be sure not to miss the iconic food hall and enjoy freshly baked scones with your choice of tea at The Harrods Tea Rooms. Eat dinner at the one-time Michelin-starred Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, for trendy Sketch in Mayfair for its traditional British cuisine with a twist.

Day 2: Oxford Street

A street sign for “Oxford Street W1” is mounted on a building’s exterior wall in the City of Westminster.

Walk from Leicester Square along Old into New Bond Street (Old Bond Street is at the southern end between Piccadilly and Burlington Gardens and the northern section, which is New Bond Street, extends to Oxford Street). Pass, shop or browse all the luxury stores. Pop in to Burlington Arcade for Menswear and South Molton Street for boutiques (Les 100 Ciels, Slowear, Maje, Sandro) and unique jewelry stores (Anoushka, Innes Strong), with a coffee stop at L'Eto or Roasting Plant Coffee. Walk onto Oxford Street and find yourself at Selfridges just in time to eat lunch at Brasserie of Light — and don’t miss out on the shoe departments!

If you still have energy, continue along Oxford Street, hitting up any of the High Street stores along the way. On your way back to the hotel, pop into Maison Assouline to admire the shelves of coffee-table books and order a well-deserved drink.

Day 3: Battersea

The image shows an interior space featuring a bar with a distinctive, illuminated central structure, surrounded by patrons, under a sign that reads “CONTROL ROOM B”.

Start the day at Battersea Power Station. A newly renovated development, this legendary London landmark once supplying a fifth of London's electricity, and is now a unique blend of shops, restaurants, leisure and entertainment, nature and historical spaces. Eat at Fiume, Gordon Ramsay Street Pizza or Tashas, and then take a post-lunch stroll along the riverside promenade and into Battersea Park. Head back to Leicester Square and end the day taking in the art at The Portrait Gallery. Enjoy the evening at a West End show (make sure to have pre-booked this online, through the hotel concierge or at last-minute at Tkts ticket booth in Leicester Square).

Day 4: Kensington and Richmond

The image shows a large skeleton of a blue whale suspended from the ceiling in the main hall of a museum, with visitors walking around and observing exhibits.

Take a tour at the V&A or Natural History museum. Head to Sloane Square and wander the King's Road for more boutiques and some last-chance buys. Grab a bite to eat - The Botanist, Cote, Comptoir are all close by – before taking the subway to Richmond (40 minutes) for the afternoon. Home of Netflix's Ted Lasso, or more historically, the area was founded following King Henry VII's building in the 16th century of Richmond Palace. It's a beautiful area where you can meander along the river, find a bench in Richmond Park or take in the views at Richmond Hill. Delight in an apéritif or meal alongside the Thames at Peggy Jean at Riverside Green for Australian fare, Brindisa for Spanish tapas or Scott's Richmond for more traditional cuisine.

Day 5: Departure

An open suitcase is being packed with neatly folded clothes and a travel document, suggesting preparation for a trip.

Squeeze your new purchases in your suitcase and head home!

Need to know

While we always wish for clear skies and pretty sunsets, it would be wise to pack a brollie (as the English say!), for the British weather tends to be unpredictable!
