Vibe

Outside of a clothing store called Vibe in Costa Rica. Brightly colored clothing and lovely displays in the front of the store.

Vibe is just that, a VIBE! This shopping haven has a unique and eclectic storefront that captivated me from the first glance. I was lured in by a stunning embroidered and fringe top. Every inch of this intimate store reveals treasures to adore, including a rack of MORE exquisite handmade tops, each more beautiful and unique than the last. Dive into their collection of linen items, which are a refreshing departure from the ordinary and popular linen pant or short sets. My friend snagged an extremely flattering linen wrap skirt with a frayed hem. Don't miss their selection of super fun boho jewelry! My only regret? Not trying on that top I spotted outside – it vanished within days! Learn from my tale and swiftly grab these one-of-a-kind pieces if they are in stock! I had the pleasure of speaking with the owner Kiki Hoyt who explained the process of how many of the amazing pieces in the store are made. "A lot of our clothing is made by indigenous women. Made by Mayans that weave the clothing in a loom by hand for up to 3 months. They use plants to dye the cotton that they hand pick from the fields and then weave it into a long bolt of fabric they use to make traditional clothing for women. They weave stories into each garment of past traditions told by the different symbols they weave into the fabric. We then take what they have already made and repurpose it into something new. We also have lots of cotton and linen clothing that we make here in Costa Rica. We take the natural fabric from other parts of Latin America. My goal was to source everything nearby. Keep a smaller footprint and support Latin America where we are, not fast fashion and to support a tradition of ancient times where everything is made by hand." Their Instagram page: Vibe

Yasmine

A shop Yasmine with variety of dresses.

Yasmine gets my praise for most unique boutique in Nosara! It is a treasure trove of whimsical, locally designed and handmade pieces. Yasmine Layani's creations, ranging from sweet feminine styles with a touch of sex appeal to hot disco queen vibes, redefine local fashion. Explore her collection, where every piece is a testament to Yasmine's distinct style – imagine the girl next door's burning man wardrobe. Don't miss the bridal wear designs! Explore accessories like the incredible beaded and feather collars. Everything is a rare but cherished find. Yasmine is not just a store, it's a destination for unique, locally crafted fashion in Nosara.

Bonus: Make sure to visit Bottle-O, the adorable wine shop next door, for an extra treat!

WLDFLWRS

A clothing store with wooden interior and lovely displays.

The dreamy boho atmosphere of WLDFLWRS perfectly embodies the local ambiance. Nestled around a central Airstream camper, this mostly open-air boutique captures the essence of the region. Explore an array of simple yet stylish pieces, including beach sets, body-con cotton dresses, and an abundance of—yes, you guessed it—linen fashion! The accessories are equally delightful. I scooped up a bucket backpack that not only added a touch of adorable flair to my growing Costa Rican wardrobe but proved incredibly practical for my newfound beach-centric lifestyle. Don't miss the vast men's section tucked behind the Airstream!

Soli

A store with active wear and cosmetics.

Soli is the winner for most affordable selection! My friend and I fell in love with the bathing suit wall, and each started gathering a mass amount of items to try on. Once we saw the prices (very affordable relative to Nosara’s prices) our piles doubled! What is even more surprising is that all of their products are ethically made in their family run factory, which is another big bonus. This store has a great selection of women’s clothing, bathing suits and accessories, but also has kids and men’s sections. Fun for the whole family and very worth a visit! Check out their other boutique in Santa Teresa if you are in the area.

MAGIC Boutique

A clothing store Magic boutique with white interior and nude colored items.

MAGIC Boutique was my inaugural stop, and it effortlessly set the tone for what Nosara has to offer. This boutique, a sanctuary for what I affectionately call "bougie boho" items, perfectly aligns with my personal style. Fringe, feathers, and kimonos galore! The shop owner has meticulously curated a stunning collection of hand-dyed or stamped pieces that not only qualify as works of art but are also ideal for the Costa Rican weather. My personal favorite? A loose, off-the-shoulder fringe top that made me feel absolutely perfect when transitioning from a sunset viewing to a night out. Don't miss the exceptional leather hats—each one a unique masterpiece! Visit MAGIC Boutique for a shopping experience that seamlessly blends artistry, style, and the essence of Costa Rica with a global flair.

Nosara Design by Pauline

A home goods store with light interior.

Nosara Design is a stunning home goods store with a touch of apparel basics. As an interior designer, I was eager to explore this gem. The storefront showcases three beautiful Buddhas and there are a set of charming fabric lanterns in the window, creating an inviting entrance. Every item in the store exudes meticulous craftsmanship and care. The home goods radiate an effortless sophistication, mirroring the vibe of Nosara itself. Personally, I fell in love with the lighting, wood furniture, and ceramics. If only I had Mary Poppins' bag, I would have taken home about 30 items! Can’t make it to Nosara soon?
