Things to do in Bahamas

A view of the large Atlantis Bahamas complex with surrounding greenery and ocean.
  • Aquaventure: Included in your reservation is access to Atlantis’ famous waterpark, Aquaventure! Visit the waterpark and test out a new water slide each day. From Poseidon's Playzone, the perfect water playground for the youngest of guests to the heart pounding thrill of the near vertical drop slides, there is something for everyone! Don’t skip the not so lazy “Rapids River”, which takes you on a mile-long winding adventure through rapids, waves and drops in a one or two person tube. For the truly brave, summit the Mayan Temple tower and take a ride down a thrilling slide that deposits you directly into an acrylic tunnel through the shark lagoon, where you get up close and personal with the ocean’s greatest predators.

  • Explore The Dig and the outdoor marine habitats: Spend some time meandering through “The Dig”, Atlantis’ world class aquarium, located in the Royal. Designed to resemble an underwater excavation of the lost city of Atlantis, The Dig takes you through a series of tunnels and passageways featuring a diverse collection of marine life. Get an up close and personal look at everything from jellyfish to sharks to moray eels! When you’re done, head outside and walk through the outdoor marine habitats, taking in the endangered sawfish, hammerhead sharks or majestic sea turtles.

  • Try your luck in the casino: Head to the Casino floor and see if you hit it big! Use your room key to keep track of your points. Who knows? You may end up with a comp!

  • Shop ‘til you drop: Take advantage of duty free shopping and check out the wide array of luxury boutiques, including Cartier, Balenciaga, Rolex, Christian Louboutin, Gucci and more. In addition to the high-end options, there is a huge range of more moderately priced stores featuring resort wear, bathing suits, souvenirs, and of course, sundries. Across from the Marina is the new straw market, where you can shop for locally made Bahamian goods and find the perfect souvenirs.

  • Beaches: With five different beaches on property, it’s easy to explore a new beach every day! Jet ski at action-packed Atlantis beach, with easy access to Pisces bar and restaurant, snorkel with sea turtles and rays at beautiful and serene Paradise beach or entertain little ones without a worry about waves by swimming, kayaking or riding a sea bicycle in the beautiful lagoon.

  • Explore the pools: Spend a day (or three!) doing a “pool crawl”, and see how many of the 14 unique swimming pools you can visit! Some of our family favorites include: The Grotto Pool, with its caves, underwater grottos and waterfalls to explore, The Coral Pool, with the swim up bar serving up delicious frozen drinks like the Miami Vice and the beach front, zero-entry Cascades Pool.

  • Dolphin Cay: Immerse yourself in an unforgettable animal encounter at Dolphin Cay, Atlantis' one-of-a-kind, sandy beach marine habitat! Here, you can have close, interactive experiences with bottlenose dolphins and playful sea lions, many of whom have a unique past - some were refugees from Hurricane Katrina! Wade in crystal-clear lagoons, get a kiss from a dolphin, swim with a sea lion or even spend a full day behind the scenes participating in feeding and training these incredible mammals. Dolphin Cay offers a variety of programs to suit all ages, from shallow water interactions to deep-water swims or stand up paddleboarding alongside the dolphins.

  • Movie night: When you just need a night to sit back and relax, take in a movie at the on site, complimentary movie theater, or send the kids to the pool for a family-friendly “dive in” movie!

  • Nightlife: Beyond the casino tables, there is plenty to keep adults occupied when the sun goes down! Hit the Aura Night Club, complete with DJ and bottle service, enjoy a comedy show at the Jokers Wild Comedy Club or take in live music at Bar Sol. The Junkanoo Parade is also another can’t-miss experience only found in the Bahamas!

  • Kids and Teens Clubs: For the kids, AKA (Atlantis Kids Adventure), is an absolute must do! This high quality, dropoff kids programming features dedicated, highly qualified staff and a robust roster of activities designed to keep kids ages 3-12 engaged and having fun so their parents can enjoy a little down time! From arts and crafts to cooking classes to treasure hunts to mermaid makeovers, and everything in between, there’s something for every kid to enjoy. Choose from a morning or afternoon session, or drop the kids by for the specially themed night time sessions, where they can enjoy “Kiddie Casino”, “Sleepless Slumber Party” and more!

  • Not to be left out, teenagers at Atlantis have their very own, parent-free space to spend the night with new friends at the Crush Teen Club. Designed with teens in mind, this supervised hangout has a high-tech Gaming Stadium, live DJ and dance floor, concession stand and gaming room filled with pool tables, foosball, air hockey and more.

A note from Joanna

Those up for an adventurous excursion outside of the resort may wish to consider:

Rose Island - One of the most popular excursions from Paradise Island is a boat trip to nearby Rose Island, where you can find barefoot beach bars (Footprints can not be beat!), friendly swimming pigs, and clear waters teeming with marine life for easy snorkeling. Group trips and private charter options are available!

Exuma - For the more adventurous set, take an all day trip via seaplane or boat to Exuma, where you can take in the breathtaking, postcard perfect beaches and crystal clear waters. Swim with the famous swimming pigs, get up close and personal with docile nurse sharks, visit the rock iguana colony, or even snorkel the airplane wreck site of the infamous Pablo Escobar!

Places to eat & drink in Bahamas

Breakfast:

Poseidon’s Table: Enjoy an elaborate buffet in the Royal Tower where every member of the family is guaranteed to find something they love! Don’t miss the special breakfast pizzas, including the kid favorite “chocolate pizza”! Ask to sit by the windows, or outside, to watch the beautiful marine animals swim while you enjoy your coffee

Perch: Upscale, a la carte breakfast offerings in the beautiful and serene Cove tower. The family-style Huevos Rancheros are a must try!

Murrays Deli: For a fun and casual sit-down meal, check out Murray’s Deli, where you can order a traditional American-style breakfast, or take in a classic New York deli favorite like cheese blintzes or potato latkes.

Starbucks: Fear not, Starbucks loyalists! With outlets throughout the property, you won’t have to skip your favorite morning coffee treat.

(My top breakfast tip, however, is simply to book at the Reef or Cove, where your booking will come with $90 breakfast credit per bedroom, per day, to be used anywhere on the property when you book with me!)

Lunch:

Pool area: Let’s be honest, chances are good you’ll be out by the pool and beach at lunch time, and you will find no shortage of options for fast and casual food sure to please the whole family. For my family, nothing quite hits the spot like an oreo milkshake, cheeseburger and cheese fries from Shake Shack!

Dinner:

Fish: Fish, by celebrity chef Jose Andres, is an absolutely delightful place to enjoy a meal. Located in the Cove, you can expect a wide array of seafood forward offerings, including a full tasting menu. Each meal starts with complimentary, can’t-miss cheddar biscuits! The bartenders here are masters of their craft as well. (Hint: ask for an off menu rum punch! Perfectly balanced and not too sweet)

Paranza: Beautiful, upscale italian with a warm, luxe ambience. Share a few starters, including the perfectly prepared calamari or fork tender octopus, and then move on to the main meal with hand-crafted pastas and mains. Vegetarians shouldn’t skip the tortelli with truffled ricotta!

Dune: For a special occasion meal, take the complimentary shuttle to Dune by Jean-Georges at the neighboring Four Seasons resort The Ocean Club. Be sure to arrive before sunset to take in spectacular views over the ocean while enjoying a signature cocktail. House favorites include the Ginger Margarita, Passionfruit Whiskey Fizz and the Tropical Manhattan.

Nobu: Nestled within the casino floor, the perennial favorite Nobu by celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa serves up delectable sushi and seafood dishes, but also specializes in mouth-watering, not-to-be-missed Wagyu beef!

Carmines: For a more casual dining experience, Carmine’s serves family-style, classic Italian dishes in a kid-friendly environment. One entree can easily serve the whole family and please the picket of eaters. Whatever you do, make sure to save room for the Titanic Ice Ceam Sundae!

Chopstix: Another relaxed, fan-favorite dinner experience is Chopstix in the Coral Tower. Start your meal off with their signature Pain Killer cocktail, then move on to delicious Chinese and Asian fusion dishes with a Bahamian flair! Here, you’ll find everything from dumplings to Peking Duck to curries, along with some signature dishes including the Bahamian Spiny Lobster.
