Day 1: Eat and explore on the waterfront

Rocky mountain behind a body of water.

The vibrant coastal city filled with endless activities and breathtaking sights. If you're wondering what to do on your first day here, let me guide you through some must-visit spots.

First off, start your day with a visit to Table Mountain. Take a cable car ride to the top and enjoy panoramic views of the city and ocean below. For reservations, see this.

Next, head over to the V&A Waterfront. This bustling hub offers a variety of shops, restaurants, and entertainment options. Take a stroll along the harbor or hop on a boat ride to get a closer look at the beautiful coastline.

In the afternoon, make your way to the historic District Six Museum to learn about the city's past. Then, end your day with a visit to the iconic Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 18 years.

Day 2: Cape of Good Hope

Penguins on the beach.

I recommend renting a car and exploring the beautiful Cape of Good Hope and visiting the adorable penguins at Boulder Beach. But before, I want to remind everyone that it is important to not feed any animals, including baboons, that we may encounter on our journey. Feeding wild animals can disrupt their natural behavior and can even be harmful to them.

The driving is stunning, driving to the Cape of Good Hope, famously known as the "Cape of Storms" due to its unpredictable weather. As you drive through this stunning nature reserve, keep an eye out for some of the local wildlife, including ostriches, baboons, and various bird species.

The final stop for the day will be Boulder Beach, where we will get the chance to see the charming African penguins up close. These adorable creatures make for great photo opportunities, but please remember to respect their space and observe them from a safe distance.

Day 3: Tour of Cape Town's Wine and Landscapes

Vineyard during the daytime.

Cape Town is known for its exquisite wines and breathtaking landscapes, making it the perfect destination for wine lovers. The first stop will be Stellenbosch, the oldest wine region in South Africa. Here we will visit some of the most renowned wineries and learn about their history and production process.

Let's dive right in and explore some must-visit wine farms:

First on our list is the iconic Boschendal Estate, which has been producing award-winning wines for over 300 years. Take a stroll through their beautiful vineyards and enjoy a wine tasting session in their cozy tasting room.

Next up is the Delaire Graff Estate, known for its stunning views and luxurious wines. Indulge in a gourmet meal at their restaurant and experience the perfect pairing of food and wine.

We also recommend visiting the iconic Spier Wine Farm, which offers a unique blend of wine, art, and sustainability. Take a tour of their vineyards and enjoy a picnic on their picturesque grounds.

Last but not least, don't miss out on the Jordan Wine Estate, known for its exceptional Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Take a cellar tour and learn about the winemaking process before indulging in a delicious wine and chocolate pairing.

Day 4: Franschhoek

Next, we will head over to Franschhoek, also known as the "French Corner" due to its strong French influence. This charming town is filled with quaint shops and award-winning wineries that offer tastings of their signature blends.

Our first recommendation is Haut Espoir, a boutique winery nestled at the foot of the Groot Drakenstein mountains. They specialize in organic and biodynamic farming, producing exceptional wines with a strong sense of terroir.

Next up is La Motte, a historic estate with over 300 years of winemaking experience. Their award-winning wines are best enjoyed alongside a delicious meal at their acclaimed restaurant.

For a unique and immersive wine tasting experience, head to Haute Cabrière. You can sample their renowned Chardonnay Pinot Noir while taking in the breathtaking views of the Franschhoek valley.

Lastly, don't miss out on a visit to Boekenhoutskloof, a renowned winery producing world-class Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon.

We will make our way to Constantia, the birthplace of South Africa's wine industry. Here we will enjoy a delicious lunch paired with a variety of wines while taking in the stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

Our first recommendation is Groot Constantia, the oldest wine estate in South Africa dating back to 1685. Here, you can take a guided tour of the historic manor house and cellars, as well as sample their award-winning wines.

Next up is Constantia Glen, with its breathtaking views of the valley and mountains. They specialize in cool climate wines such as their popular Sauvignon Blanc and Bordeaux-style blends.

For a more intimate experience, we suggest Beau Constantia, a boutique winery with stunning views and a small selection of carefully crafted wines.

And let's not forget about the food! La Colombe at Silvermist wine estate offers a fine dining experience paired with their excellent wines.

With so many options to choose from, we highly recommend visiting Constantia and exploring these incredible wine farms.

Day 5: Tour wine farms in Paarl

Today, we will be taking you on a tour of some of the best wine farms in Paarl.
Paarl is known for its rich history and breathtaking landscapes, but it's also famous for its award-winning wines. We highly recommend starting your tour at Fairview Wine Estate, where you can sample their unique and delicious goat's milk cheese paired with their exceptional wines.

Next, head to Nederburg Wine Estate, one of the oldest and most prestigious wineries in the country. Here you can take a cellar tour and learn about their winemaking process before enjoying a tasting of their renowned wines.

For a more intimate and authentic experience, we suggest visiting the boutique family-run winery, Mellasat Vineyards. Their knowledgeable staff will guide you through their small-batch production and you can taste their exclusive wines while taking in stunning views of the valley.

Days 6 & 7: Safari

For Safari, I recommend companies that are environmentally responsible and promote sustainable practices.

Secondly, consider the type of safari experience you are looking for. Some companies specialize in luxury safaris, while others focus on a more budget-friendly option.
