Why should you visit Punta Cana?

Punta Cana is a mix of luxury, adventure and natural beauty. If you enjoy these, then you should consider Punta Cana as your next destination. Here are more reason to consider Punta Cana:

  • World-class beaches: Punta Cana boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean. It contains powdery white sand beaches that stretch for miles. The water is turquoise and crystal-clear.

  • Spectacular golf: If you are a golfer, you will be in paradise. Punta Cana is home to many courses designed by many famous course architects, including Fazio and P.B. Dye to name a few. Some of the best golf courses are in Punta Cana.

  • Adventure and water sports: Punta Cana offers a variety of outdoor activities that appeal to thrill-seekers and nature lovers alike. You can go snorkeling or diving in coral reefs, enjoy windsurfing or take a catamaran tour to explore the coast. Adventure lovers can try zip-lining through the jungle, explore underground caves or visit Hoyo Azul, a hidden cenote with crystal-clear waters.

  • Ecological and Nature Reserves: Nature lovers will appreciate Punta Cana’s commitment to preserving its natural beauty. The Indigenous Eyes Ecological Park is a protected reserve that features 12 freshwater lagoons, tropical forests and nature trails. Visitors can swim in the lagoons, hike through the lush landscapes or even learn about the region’s indigenous people.

When are the best times to go to Punta Cana?

  • The weather is best in October to March and high season.

  • Shoulder season is October to February.

  • Low Season is April to September.

  • Hurricane season starts in June, but peaks during September and October.

  • You will see that the prices are lower during September and October, but the weather is riskier due to peak hurricane season.

Where should you stay in Punta Cana?

I recommend two resorts: The Westin Punta Cana Resort and Club and Tortuga Bay.

Reasons to stay at The Westin Punta Cana Resort and Club:

  • This resort meets all of the above: white sand beaches, luxury accommodations and home to two golf courses. Corales Golf Course, a PGA Tour venue, and La Cana Golf Course, which offers 27 holes of resort golf. Both courses offer views of the Caribbean sea.

  • If you are seeking more luxury than what the Westin Puntacana has to offer, then you should seek out Tortuga Bay. Located not too far from The Westin Puntacana, Oscar de la Renta designed the Tortuga and it offers more seclusion.

  • Both resorts are located less than 10 minutes from Punta Cana International Airport. You literally land and get whisked to your resort in less than 20 minutes (9-minute drive, 11 minutes to get your luggage and golf clubs), with the resort's VIP whisking services.

What are the best golf courses in Punta Cana?

  • The Corales Golf Course is a Tom Fazio course, opened in 2010. It is an 18-hole championship course. The golf course is home to the PGA Tour's Corales Punta Cana Championship. The best part of the course is the six holes that play along the coastline.

  • La Cana Golf Course is a P.B. Dye-designed course with 27 holes divided into three 9-hole courses (Tortuga, Arrecife and Hacienda). It is known as one of the top courses in the Caribbean with breathtaking seaside holes.

For a four to seven-night stay, you won't have to leave the resort because of these top-notch restaurants:

  • Anani: A perfect spot to start your day with a diverse breakfast buffet featuring local and international dishes.

  • Brassa Grill & Bar: Known for serving high-quality steaks and grilled specialties, Brassa provides a sophisticated yet relaxed dining experience.

  • Playa Blanca: Situated right on the beach, Playa Blanca offers a wide variety of seafood dishes and casual fare like burgers and sandwiches. It is perfect for a relaxed lunch with ocean views.

  • Arena: Arena provides a mix of Latin-inspired dishes with a relaxed, beachside vibe, ideal for guests looking to enjoy flavorful meals while soaking in the beautiful surroundings.

  • The Grill at La Cana Clubhouse: This poolside restaurant offers a range of Latin and international dishes. It is ideal for a light lunch or a leisurely dinner after a day of golfing or lounging by the beach.
