Things to do in New York City

A group of people in a parade.

If you are going to attend the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, you should do it the right way. The right way is to attend the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade that will give you the best of both worlds. A spot to view the parade outdoors and when you get cold or tired, you can go back inside and enjoy the warmth, a nice meal and a drink.

Here is the ideal itinerary — a three-night itinerary for the Macy’s Parade:

  • For Wednesday: Arrive the Wednesday morning before Thanksgiving, to catch the parade balloons being inflated on Wednesday afternoon and into the evening. The balloon inflation takes place in the streets around the American Museum of Natural History.

  • For Thursday: Thanksgiving morning, you will enjoy the parade with reserved indoor brunch seating and an outdoor parade viewing area. No need to fight the crowds, camp out or waking up extra early to claim a spot. Everything is taken care of for you, including food, drinks and snacks.

  • For Friday: While you are in New York, why not take in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular staring the world-famous Rockettes. Even if you have already watched the Radio City Christmas Spectacular with the Rockettes, it can't get any better than kicking off the holiday season with them again.

  • For Saturday: You can choose to check out, or extend your trip and keep going. You will want to book a hotel within walking distance to Central Park, Times Square and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade route. I can assist with suggestions.
