Where to Stay: Lima Peru Hotels
We recommend the Miraflores or Barranco area. Both are centrally located. We especially loved the charm of Barranco.
Miraflores Area
Pullman Lima-Miraflores: This hotel has a great modern vibe and an amazing rooftop pool, what more could you ask for. From the culinary experiences, to the modern decor and great guest rooms, Pullman is a great home base to explore all that Lima has to offer.
Miraflores Park: A great central place to explore and then have a home away from home when you return to your hotel. This luxurious hotel includes a spa, wonderful dining and experiences like a Butler to spoil you while you’re on your trip!
Barranco
Hotel B: This is a family-friendly hotel that has amazing architecture and a great rooftop. It is located near many of Lima’s attractions like Larcomar and the water. It definitely takes on the historic vibe of the historic district it resides in.
What to Eat: Lima Gastronomic Experiences
Lima is known for its food and we had a great time experiencing all it had to offer. When there, be sure to start with some fresh Ceviche, enjoy a dish of Lomo Saltado and wash it all down with a signature Peruvian Pisco Sour.
Isolina: This restaurant in the top 50 in the world offers comfort food in a casual setting. We stopped here on our food tour (more on this below) and it was incredible. We had our first Lomo Saltado (think stir fry and french fries merged in a delicious dish) and Pisco Sour. This is one of our favorite drinks we’ve learned about while traveling!
Canta Rana: A seafood restaurant in Barranco area that is great for ceviche and other seafood dishes! Anthony Bourdain went here!
Amaz: One of the most popular restaurants in Lima! The world-famous chef brings Amazonian dishes into the city. This restaurant is located in the Miraflores area and another visited spot of Bourdain!
Be sure you reserve your spot ahead of time at these restaurants since Lima is known for its cuisine and these places are very popular!
Things to Do: Lima Activities
Food Tour in Barranco
We started the morning with a Food Walking Tour in Barranco with Food C’s. Food tours are such a great way to start a trip to a foreign country because they’re usually led by a local and you can get some insider tips on what to see and do. Not to mention, you then know what to order for the rest of the trip! The food on this particular trip was so good. One of the highlights was we got to learn how to make ceviche (and of course eat it) and also try one of the most famous Peruvian Dishes-Lomo Saltado-think Stir Fry on French Fries. We also had our first Pisco Sour-we were hooked from day one!
Explore the sights downtown
Plaza Mayor & Church/Catacombs
Archbishop's Palace
Presidential Palace
Swim with the Sea Lions
This is one of the more popular tours in Lima and a great way to get out on the water!
Larcomar
For some shopping and a view of the water!
Malecon
Take a stroll along this famous scenic cliff. There is a beautiful view on a clear day!
Love Park
This park was Gaudi-inspired and gave us some fun reminders of our trip to Barcelona. It was fitting to take a stroll through here since it was our wedding anniversary the day we were there!
Parque Kennedy
Another popular area to grab a bite to eat, a drink or just explore the city!
Need to know
If you’re only there a few days, try to make your travel day Sunday or avoid that day altogether, many things are closed!
