Honeymoon at Likuliku Lagoon Resort
Curator’s statement

In November 2022, I spent five nights of my honeymoon at Likuliku Lagoon Resort in Fiji and have been dreaming about the clear, beautiful water, impeccable service and attention to every single detail ever since! From the second you arrive via boat transfer or helicopter, you are met with a smile and a ‘bula,’ which I quickly learned was the equivalent of a Hawai'ian “aloha.’ I hope to return to Likuliku, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an amazing vacation!

Location

The adults-only resort is located about 16 miles from Nadi International Airport and there are a few ways to get there. You can choose from a catamaran, private speedboat, helicopter or seaplane—the time of your arrival and departure will play a key factor and all will need to be coordinate in advance. We arrived to Nadi in the morning and were able to enjoy the aerial views from a helicopter transfer, but left while it was still dark out and took a speedboat. Both ways were a great way to see many Fijian islands.

Dining

The resort has one main dining option, Fijiana, where they serve a buffet style (or a la carte) menu, lunch and dinner. The menu changes daily and you are given a couple of options to choose from. They take into consideration any dietary restrictions and made sure to have an option on our menu to accommodate all. As a somewhat picky eater, I loved this attention to detail and all of the food was absolutely delicious! I strongly recommend making a reservation for dinner. You will be able to get a table regardless, but the reservation ensures you have the best views! There are two waterfront tables that can be reserved in advance, this was the perfect spot for the last night of our stay at Likuliku. During lunch, they serve pizza, salads and burgers poolside, using many ingredients from their on-site gardens, and have amazing frozen drinks to enjoy while you bask in the sun.

Things to do

There is no shortage of activities or ways to relax at Likuliku and the staff, a lot of whom live on site or in the nearby village, are more than happy to help you coordinate.

Here are just some of the highlights:

  • Snorkeling, paddle-boarding and sailing - Supplies can be rented from the activities hut.

  • Island hopping - A half-day boat trip to different islands and snorkel spots. Our favorite spot was the island where they filmed the movie Castaway!

  • Sunset cruise - Cruise around the island while listening to Fijian music on guitar and enjoying appetizers and cocktails.

  • Fijian night - Every Friday night is Fijian night, where they host all guests for cocktails, appetizers and entertainment, followed by a traditional Fijian buffet-style dinner. We arrived on a Friday and immediately felt immersed in the culture.

  • Honeymoon Island - Mociu is a private island owned by the resort and can be reserved one group at a time. We loved relaxing, snorkeling and the option to hike up to the top. If you plan to do this, you might want sturdier shoes than sandals!

  • Tatadara Spa - This was a highlight! We visited the first day for a couples massage while waiting for our bure to be ready. We loved that we were able to arrive to the island and immediately relax after the long day of travel. Towards the end of the trip, we returned to the spa for Sun Soother massages. Truly one of the best massages of my life!

Need to know

I highly recommend Likuliku Lagoon Resort to anyone who is looking to relax and enjoy a vacation with impeccable service. It is the perfect spot for a honeymoon with a variety of room types. There are 10 overwater bures, deluxe beachfront bures with private plunge pools and beachfront bures with private decks. This would also be an amazing location for an elopement or small destination wedding. Reach out and let me plan your perfect island getaway!
