Location
Villa d'Este is set majestically along the shores of Lake Como in Cernobbio. This iconic hotel is a short drive from the city of Como and offers direct access to the lake, making it a prime location for exploring the surrounding area or enjoying water-based activities.
Rooms
152 luxuriously appointed rooms and suites, distributed across the main building and the Queen’s Pavilion. Each room offers breathtaking views of the lake or the hotel’s historic gardens.
The estate includes four villas: Villa Cima, Villa Garrovo, Villa Malakoff and Mosaic House. Guests could rent Villas, too. Guests who are staying at the villas have access to all the hotel’s facilities and could have breakfast at Veranda Restaurant, too.
Hotel’s layout
Built in 1568 as the summer home of Cardinal Tolomeo Gallio, this building was converted into a luxury hotel in 1873, quickly becoming a preferred retreat for the European aristocracy. Villa d’Este comprises two main historical buildings - the Cardinal Building and the Queen’s Pavilion, surrounded by 25 acres of magnificently landscaped park.
Food
Veranda Restaurant: classic Italian cuisine is elevated with international influences. Executive Chef Michele Zambanini combines relentless innovation and the finest ingredients while maintaining a deep respect for seasonal produce. Situated in the Cardinal’s Building, the Veranda fine-dining restaurant features stunning views of the lake, gardens, and Mosaic. During summer and favorable weather, retractable windows open to allow dining on the lakeside terrace. Breakfast for hotel guests is served here, too.
Grill: grilled meats and traditional fish dishes are the highlights of the menu, complemented by a selection of appetizers that reflect Mediterranean culinary traditions from both the sea and the land. Nestled close to the Queen’s Pavilion, the Grill offers a warm and relaxed dining atmosphere. During the summer, guests can enjoy their meals in the garden, shaded by ancient trees and overlooking scenic views of the lake.
Il Platano: the Platano features a refreshed design that captures the spirit of authentic Mediterranean and Japanese cuisine, enhanced by global influences. Located on a secluded terrace with views of Lake Como, it provides a relaxed atmosphere where diners can enjoy shared plates and discover new flavors.
Sundeck: adjacent to the floating pool, the Sundeck offers an ideal spot for enjoying light snacks and expertly crafted cocktails during the warmer months. Enhanced by sunlight and stunning views, the attentive service at this exclusive spot for hotel guests ensures a memorable experience without the need for reservations.
Canova Bar and lake terraces: since 1873, Bar Canova on Lake Como has been renowned for its exceptional mixology, offering a selection of signature and classic cocktails, along with a superb array of spirits. The bar's elegant and welcoming interior provides a perfect spot for relaxation at any time. The Beauty Center of Villa d’Este is located on the first floor of the Cardinal Building and is connected to the Sporting Club by an underground passage.
