Family Bliss at Grand Hyatt Baha Mar
Curator’s statement

In December 2021, our family enjoyed a beautiful stay at the upscale and family-friendly Grand Hyatt Baha Mar hotel. The Bahamian spirt is alive and well here. Despite it being our second visit, we were pleasantly surprised by the abundance of new attractions and amenities to enjoy in addition to the stunning pools and beach. The expansive water park offered endless fun and excitement, while the remarkable array of restaurants catered to our every culinary desire. Our family has developed a deep affection for this property and we can't wait for our next stay to create more fun and cherished memories. I highly recommend this property to my clients with families.

This resort is located on Cable Beach which is a convenient 15 minutes east of the Lynden Pindling International Airport in Nassau, Bahamas. There are efficient ground taxi transportation options from the airport to the resort. There is an onsite waterpark, eight pools, golf and tennis facilities, 15 acres of beachfront, water sports, casino and spa. Area attractions near the hotel include visiting 18th Century structures, meeting local artisans or taking a day trip to a secluded island.

Prepare to be captivated by the wide variety of stunning pools at this property. During our stay, we found ourselves drawn to the alluring Dean's Blue Hole which is particularly well-suited for families with children. This pool boasts beautiful rock walls, cascading waterfalls and a secluded grotto where you can marvel at sea turtles and sharks in an aquarium setting. For those seeking a thrill, you'll have the exhilarating option to jump and make a splash from the rock walls, while little ones can enjoy the safety and comfort of provided life vests.

Our family also enjoyed the relaxing and decadent Baha Bay Beach Club nestled at the edge of Cable Beach. We experienced the perfect blend of tranquility and seclusion as we lounged on a daybed and swam in the serene infinity pools overlooking swaying palm trees and turquoise waters. We appreciated the convenience of the entry fee to the Baha Bay Beach Club, which was a set food and beverage minimum spend at the time of our stay. This allowed us to savor refreshing beverages throughout the day, while also indulging in leisurely lunches and dinners from the comfort of our daybed. We truly felt so special!

The Baha Bay luxury water park is not to be missed for those looking for family fun and adventure. Our family's favorite attraction was the 'The River,' which included a peaceful and exciting float down a lazy river surrounded by lush tropical foliage with splashes of excitement. The laughter and joy were also contagious as our kids explored Stingray Cove, a vibrant area filled with slides and tipping buckets of water. With a perfect blend of adventurous and thrilling water slides, surf simulations, wave pools, and shallow areas, Baha Bay caters to the bravest and meekest of family members alike. There is something for everyone.

The hotel has a diverse array of casual and fine-dining options for any palate and kids 5 and under eat free at a selection of both high-end and casual restaurants. Some of our favorites include the following:

Cafe Madeleine - a French coffee and bakery perfect for breakfast. Sit down and dine or grab a pastry and coffee to go and start your morning off peacefully by the beach or by the pool.

Umami Burger - casual family dining located at Baha Bay water park. The seating outdoors had a true beachy, easy and breezy feel to it. Food is perfect to plop down and enjoy after a long day of having fun in the sun. Serves rich and savory burgers and sides. I enjoyed a delicious Impossible burger (meatless) option as well.

Da’ Poke Bowl Shack - provides a quick, fresh, and healthy bite to each while taking a break from lounging at the pool or beach. Exclusive to guests of Baha Mar, the rice bowls hit the spot and options include ahi, salmon, tofu, chicken, musubi, or crab. Fun and playful beverages including Hawaiian Shaved Ice can be found here as well.

Cleo - a gorgeous Mediterranean-inspired restaurant that is a crowd-pleaser. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. We enjoyed a myriad of small plates, and the Haloumi Cheese Saganaki includes a festive tableside flambé.

Costa - a beautiful Mexican-inspired restaurant surrounded by lush gardens at the Rosewood, this is a perfect spot for date-night drinks or a dinner under the stars. A romantic and luxurious atmosphere that promises a night to remember.

The Sugar Factory - a swoon-worthy and playful restaurant atmosphere that allows both kids and adults to indulge in decadent food while having fun. Our kids were in heaven. The Rainbow Sliders featuring colorful slider buns were a standout, as well as the monstrous indulgent milkshakes. Don’t sleep on the dessert-themed cocktails either!

For an additional cost, kids can participate in Kids Club allowing parents to relish quality time alone by lounging at an adults-only pool, indulging their senses at the spa, or heading out for a romantic date night. There is a variety of creative programming to choose from at flexible times of the day to ensure kids are engaged and entertained. We enrolled our kids at Kids Club for two nights during our stay and the kids got to participate in crafts and games, while we enjoyed the casino and romantic date nights.

Baha Mar also provides up close and personal wildlife encounters that are educational and fun for all. Our family was able to view the beautiful flamingos at Flamingo Cay and view sharks and sea turtles in the grotto. We also spotted sea turtles in the ocean while watching from the beachside dock.
