Curator’s statement
Hotel Bardo has my heart. It is the perfect hidden gem nestled in the lush jungle of Tulum, Mexico. This hotel is an adults-only hotel and is known for its spiritual healing rituals, temazcal, yoga and holistic massages. I’ve had the pleasure of staying in a Bardo Villa, which was spacious and beautifully designed. The room featured a private plunge pool, an outdoor shower and a hammock. The cleanliness of this hotel was impeccable. The central pool at Hotel Bardo is stunning and surrounded by lush vegetation, providing a peaceful place to relax. Spa 13 at Bardo offers a variety of treatments that cultivate a space for deep introspection and mindfulness. I’m sure you will enjoy your stay as much as I have.

During my stay at Hotel Bardo in Tulum, I fell in love with the tranquil atmosphere and the hotel's unique blend of luxury and authentic Mexican culture. Nestled amid the lush jungle, this adults-only boutique retreat offered a serene escape that felt worlds away from the everyday hustle. However, it is still close enough if you wanted to make your way to the hotel strip where you can find the most beautiful clear-water beaches.
The accommodations were nothing short of exquisite. Each private villas are equipped with modern amenities, including air conditioning, outdoor showers, hammock and private plunge pools.

Dining at Hotel Bardo was a delightful experience. There is one onsite restaurant offering a menu inspired by traditional Mexican flavors and international cuisine. Emphasizing fresh, locally sourced ingredients, the dishes were both healthy and gourmet, served in a beautiful open-air setting that enhanced the overall experience. The chilaquiles is my favorite dish paired with a mimosa.
The hotel's strong focus on wellness was evident in the variety of activities available. You can enjoy daily yoga sessions, guided meditation and sound healing therapies, all set in serene outdoor spaces. The spa, with its range of treatments including massages and traditional Mayan rituals, provides a perfect way to unwind and rejuvenate. If you ever get the opportunity to attend the Temazcal ritual, I highly recommend you try it. It’s a healing journey that leads to our rebirth.
My stay at Hotel Bardo was memorable and the perfect balance of luxury with a deep respect for local traditions and the natural world. It was the ideal destination for disconnecting from daily life and reconnecting with myself and the beauty around me. I can’t wait to be back.
