Punta Mita Resort Reviews: A Curated Travel Advisor’s Perspective
Curator’s statement

In August of 2024, my husband and I marked our 22nd wedding anniversary in the stunning paradise of Punta Mita, Mexico. This tropical haven, with its lush jungles and pristine beaches, is home to a wide array of resorts catering to every type of traveler and occasion. As a travel advisor, every getaway doubles as a scouting mission. During this trip, we indulged in stays at the luxurious St. Regis Punta Mita and the vibrant W Punta De Mita, spent a rejuvenating day at the Conrad Punta De Mita and conducted a site visit at the prestigious Four Seasons. Here are my takeaways.

St. Regis Punta Mita

If you're seeking high-touch service and a truly luxurious experience, the St. Regis Punta Mita delivers from the moment you arrive. This resort, with 120 rooms, is thoughtfully designed, spread out across a series of smaller buildings — no towering hotel blocks here. The property spans 22 acres of meticulously manicured landscaping, striking the perfect balance between elegance and authenticity, ensuring the natural beauty of the region shines through.

Rooms: The entry-level rooms are spacious, starting at 600 square feet and are available with either a king bed or two queens and have plenty of connecting room options. Recently renovated, the rooms boast sleek decor, expansive bathrooms featuring both indoor and outdoor showers, soaking tubs and private balconies. For those seeking even more space and luxury, suites and villas are available, some with private plunge pools and oceanfront views. Every room comes with a dedicated butler who takes your cell number and is ready to fulfill your every request. I couldn’t help but wonder about the most outlandish requests these butlers have received!

Property: The resort’s layout is both grand and intimate, with a three-level main pool set against a striking rock structure and water feature, providing ample lounging space. The adults-only pool is a serene retreat, where every two loungers share a perfectly positioned umbrella, ensuring optimal shade and comfort.

Dining: On-site dining options are plentiful, with the breakfast buffet being a standout — especially since it’s a complimentary perk when you book through me. The variety and quality of the food is exceptional, making it a memorable start to each day.

The entry-level rooms offer a king bed or two doubles (take note, no queens here), complete with rain showers, private balconies and plenty of natural light. For those wanting a bit more space, there are suites available with separate living areas and enhanced views. Some rooms even offer plunge pools, adding a touch of indulgence to your stay. All of these higher-category rooms have been recently renovated and reflect the future design of the resort, set for renovation in 2025. This resort is spread out and it’s important to work with a travel advisor who knows the space to help you pick the right room category and location on property based on your needs.

Property: The property itself is a feast for the senses, with striking design elements inspired by the local Huichol culture.
