Site Visit: Hotel Del Coronado
Curator’s statement

This property is extremely family-friendly, almost to the point where I wouldn't necessarily recommend that honeymooners or young couple looking for a "relaxing" or "kid-less" getaway stay here. With that said, there are some areas of the hotel you can stay at that are more private. This would include the Shore House and Beach Village (a bit older, but currently being renovated and an adults-only private pool.)

I would highly recommend the Shore House, as this building is newly renovated, has its own private pool, cabanas, lobby, etc. and they are offering introductory rates for these rooms. Their 3-bedroom suites are huge (full living rooms, kitchen, dining area, multiple balconies, 5 beds, etc.) and great for a large family or multiple families.

Aside from Shore House, if you are looking for an updated room with ocean front views, I would choose The Views. These are beautifully-appointed, spacious rooms with incredible views.

There are a few different options for food on the property. My favorite was the Eno Market & Pizzeria. The staff was super friendly and the pizza was delicious. They do a brunch buffet at "Sheerwater" and there were lots of choices. There is also the Story Bar, Sun Deck and Serea (mediterranean cuisine). Unfortunately it was raining, so we did not get to experience any of the outdoor dining, but the Sun Deck looked AMAZING for sunny days! Another awesome amenity is that the Del owns a portion of the beach, so they are able to serve food and alcohol to you on the beach!

They also mentioned that festive/Christmas time at the Del is fabulous! Ice skating rinks, activities, Christmas trees everywhere and more.

A few foodie hot-spots in the cute little town of Coronado include: The Henry (don't miss this restaurant), Garage Buona Forchetta (cute authentic Italian market & restaurant) and Little Frenchie (Parisian-style bistro & wine bar). They are all walking distance from the hotel, which is great.
