Visit to The Retreat at the Blue Lagoon, Iceland
Curator’s statement

In November of 2024, I had a brief stay at The Retreat at the Blue Lagoon in Iceland. This spectacular property is like nowhere else. Combined with the ease of a direct flight from RDU, I highly recommend it.

Where to stay

Unlock perks by contacting Gwyn to book your trip.

The Retreat is located about 30 minutes from the Keflavik airport, which has several direct flights from the US. You can arrange transportation with the resort or get a cab. (They are plentiful, but if you have an early flight you might want to arrange transportation.) Rooms are decorated to match the surroundings with luxurious showers and tubs. There are three restaurants on site plus a swim-up bar at the lagoon (weather permitting). The four-step Blue Lagoon Ritual will have your skin glowing and is included with your stay. Massages and facials are also available.

Need to know

I recommend The Retreat for my clients looking for a luxury spa retreat like no other. It would make a romantic couple's getaway or a fun girl's trip.

The Retreat is the pinnacle of relaxation. Graceful Icelandic décor and comfort combined with an other-worldly geothermal wonder. The Michelin-starred restaurant Moss is on site, as is the larger Lava restaurant and the Spa restaurant. A full-service breakfast and afternoon coffee are included, as is access to the Lagoon spa and the Lagoon Ritual. Guests enjoy a private section of the Lagoon. A great way to start or end any Iceland trip.
