Amazing Stay at the Newly Renovated Grand Hyatt Barcelona
Curator’s statement

In October 2024, I stayed at the newly renovated Grand Hyatt Barcelona (formerly the Hotel Sofia). The attentive staff was warm & welcoming, the modern decor was stunning and the location was fantastic. I would stay here again and highly recommend it to my clients.

Nestled in Pedralbes, this hotel feels more authentic (less touristy) and, thanks to recent renovations in April 2024, it feels brand new! The modern touches start in the lobby with giant reflective gold panels angled and hanging from the ceiling. It continues into every restaurant as well; the Philosofia Coffee Shop is like a warm and inviting library with a cafe, and the gastronomic Sofia Bar & Tapas had delicious food & prompt service.

They really paid attention to details, which is especially notable in the rooms. My favorite aspect were the motion detector lights under the nightstands and in the bathroom water closet. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable and supportive without being too stiff or soft. The warm wood floors and wardrobes were accented by a green velvet fabric chair & headboard that made the room feel very homey.

Need to know

Because the area is less touristy, and next to the university, you’ll see a lot more Spaniards than you will tourists. The tourist attractions are a very easy metro ride or Hop-on/Hop-off Bus ride away (which stops just outside the hotel). It’s the perfect hotel for solo travelers and couples looking for a more authentically Barcelona experience. Reach out to plan your perfect Barcelona trip!
