About Washington, Connecticut

In some ways, Litchfield County is Connecticut's answer to the Hudson Valley area in New York — think plenty of nature trails, antique shops and local, historic small towns.

Takeaways

The Mayflower Inn & Spa sits on 58 acres and was established as a school for boys in 1894 before being converted into the Mayflower Inn in 1919.

The Mayflower Inn & Spa is stunning during all four seasons. Several employees noted that being snowed in here is like a winter wonderland.

A known destination for holistic health, The Well is a beautiful, modern spa. An absolute MUST! The spa also offers fitness classes daily for an additional charge and the spa's boutique has a cool, curated selection of swimwear (ONIA) and loungewear (Spiritual Gangster). The indoor heated pool and jacuzzi are open to clients ages 16 and older — children only have access to the indoor pool between 8-10 AM.

Meanwhile, the outdoor pool is open to all and has no restrictions.

Dog-friendly and no weight restrictions! There is a daily fee, but bring on Beethoven!

The hotel was renovated during the pandemic by designer Celerie Kembel, so the rooms are well-dressed and blend the New England aesthetic with modern amenities. There is only one cottage that did not receive a Kembel-style makeover, but it has classic New England neutrals.

Be sure to check out the activities and events calendar — you will see how many things there are to do for health and wellness, as well as local exploring in Litchfield County. If you need activities planned on-site, the staff is knowledgeable and always willing to assist with your needs.

In partnership with Johnnycake Books in Salisbury, there are unique, rare, out-of-print books available for purchase in the parlor.

In partnership with The Huntress based in Pound Ridge, NY, there is also a small boutique of home goods and gifts near the main reception desk.
