The on-site dining is impeccable with locally sourced ingredients with culturally influenced dishes. Additionally, the resort offers many on-site experiences, including the rush of white-water rafting, the thrill of ziplining through canyons and the serenity of soaking in thermal rivers heated by ancient volcanoes.

Positioned just 45 minutes from the Liberia airport, Rio Perdido resort lies in the forest of Guanacaste. The road to the property is the start of your Costa Rican adventure as you wind through the local town, but would advise those sensitive to car sickness to take precautions. For those who prefer to avoid the roads, a helicopter can be arranged from the airport to the landing pad at the resort overlooking three volcanoes.

Local howler monkey to be spotted (and heard) daily
Once arriving at the resort, you'll be greeted by a lovely staff member providing a refreshing cold towel and an expertly curated welcome drink before reviewing the check-in process and property amenities. This will be the best place to start looking for local howler and Capuchin monkeys before being whisked away to your private bungalow in a golf cart. The resort is sprawling but effortlessly harmonizes with nature. Those wishing to take a scenic route can easily walk or hike to the main hotel, but golf carts are plentiful and only a few moments away.

A warm welcome

Welcome gift highlighting local flavor
The east bungalows are positioned closer to the thermal springs and furthest away from the main hotel. Don't let the small footprint fool you, these bungalows are a peaceful haven, including an outdoor terrace with hammocks.
The central bungalows take on a rich, moody tone with the forest taking center stage with floor-to-ceiling windows. The ample space of the bungalow allows guests to explore the outdoor terrace or watch a movie on a retractable screen for a romantic night in.
Newly built, the West bungalows are a lavish experience with a private plunge pool and private terrace built for in-room dining or massage. This is the sprawling room category takes the best elements of east and central bungalows for a top-tier luxury experience.

Center Bungalow
The properties culinary experiences are second to none with some of the best food we've ever experienced. The hotel strives for local, sustainable practices rooted in Costa Rican culture. Take advantage of booking with breakfast included and do no pass up on the pancakes. Lunch and dinner are all offered in the same restaurant space or by the naturally heated pool. Since the property is almost 30 minutes from the nearest town, would anticipate to eat all meals on site with prices averaging $15-35/meal and $9–20 a cocktail. For an extra-special experience, a private meal can be booked for the platform overlooking the Rio Blanco canyon

Likely the world's best pancakes

Complimentary yoga
The resort has included activities that are outstanding: a guided volcano hike, a one-hour yoga class in the newly built yoga studio, multiple biking/hiking trails and multiple hot springs. The canyon adventure is for thrill-seekers, but should not be missed as it's the best zip-lining in the area. Additionally, the resort offers white water rafting, culinary and cocktail mixing classes, a renowned spa and many other curated, off-property tours. The service and attention to detail is exceptional!

Incredible suspension bridge connecting the resort to the numerous hiking and biking trails

Volcano viewing from the guided hike.
