Greece: A Journey Through Luxury & History
Curator’s statement

Athens – Luxury at the King George Hotel

In Athens, I stayed at the King George Luxury Hotel, which was everything you would expect from a high-end establishment. The service was impeccable, and the accommodations were gorgeous. My room was spacious and beautifully appointed, and the patio bar offered stunning views of the Acropolis, making for the perfect spot to enjoy a drink while taking in the city’s iconic skyline.

Chania, Crete – Domes Noruz Chania, Autograph Collection

After Athens, I headed to Domes Noruz Chania, a beachfront property in Crete. This hotel, part of the Autograph Collection, is a true gem. The clear water and clean beaches were highlights, and the service was attentive and friendly.

The food was excellent, and each room at the hotel has a private patio featuring a splash pool and outdoor soaking tub. These amenities make for a luxurious and relaxing experience. The rooms were comfortable, and our requests were handled promptly, ensuring a worry-free stay.

My recent trip to Greece was filled with incredible sights, luxurious accommodations and unforgettable dining experiences. From the vibrant city of Athens to the stunning beaches of Chania, Crete, here are my thoughts on what made this trip so memorable — and a few areas where things could have been better.

Old Town Chania – Historic Shopping with Great Finds

While in Crete, I explored Old Town Chania, a historic shopping district filled with unique and affordable finds. From pottery and jewelry to souvenirs, clothing and leather goods, this area is a must-visit for anyone looking to pick up local treasures. Whether you’re after a special keepsake or a stylish new outfit, you’ll find it here at great prices.

Need to know

Aegean Airlines – Chaotic & Unreliable

While the destinations were incredible, the one downside of the trip was my experience with Aegean Airlines. Their boarding process was chaotic and unorganized, and none of our flights were on time. If you’re considering flying with them, be cautious if you have a tight connection — I wouldn’t recommend relying on them if your schedule is time-sensitive.

My trip to Greece was a fantastic blend of luxury, history, and culture. The accommodations and dining were top-notch, and while the airline experience was frustrating, it didn’t take away from the beauty of the places I visited. Whether you’re exploring the bustling streets of Athens or lounging on the beaches of Crete, Greece offers a truly unforgettable travel experience.
